I’ve been a patient of Dr. Kanos for many years and he has always been kind and patient. I appreciate the time he takes with me each visit to make sure all my questions are answered and I trust him completely. His bedside manners have never changed in all the years I’ve known him. I’m very grateful for a doctor like him. Thank you for everything Dr. Kanos!
Dr. Kanos provides excellent care, answers all of my questions and ensures I fully understand his responses before the end of my appointment without rushing.
Dr. Kanos delivered my second child and I couldn’t be more thankful. I wanted a natural birth and he was so good at listening to me and really catered to how I wanted my birthing experience to be. I am beyond thankful for his assistance on the delivery of my son.
Dr. Kanos has been my gyn for the past 17 years. He is great. He is a great listener and very kind. I’m super excited that he will be my OB/GYN now.
Dr. Kanos delivered my first daughter in 2014 and my second daughter in 2019. Both times I got great care, and even though we had moved further from the city I still came back to see him for my second pregnancy because I felt so comfortable with him. He can have a dry sense of humor but I appreciate that and find him warm, funny, and extremely caring. He always makes sure you are completely comfortable, is extremely patient with time and questions, never makes you wait long for your appointments, and above all makes sure you and your baby are 100% looked after with the best medical care. Highly recommend him and the hospital he delivers at, St. Luke’s Roosevelt or now called Mt. Sinai West?.
You should be very reluctant when considering Dr. Kanos as your OBGYN. The first visit with him was extreeeeeemely quick & awkward. I returned to him only after asking his front desk a bit about his personality. When they confirmed he is just a dry person who takes a minute to respond - allowing himself time to process information before responding - I felt a bit more comfortable to return. Additionally, his follow up communication via MyChart was acceptable & timely, even while he was on vacation, so I returned to him. HOWEVER, when the next step became surgery, he was nowhere to be found. He told me he would only discuss in person - despite my best efforts in explaining the outrageous amount of time I had to already take off in 2018 due to other unforeseen circumstances. Regardless, I made an appointment to appease the doctor. I will not be back. Upon arrival the wait time appeared to be insane. I inquired with the front desk - who always seemed very helpful, honestly - and they said no more than 30 minutes. That quickly turned into another 20 minutes and so on. After the appointment, I felt ridiculously taken advantage of. Yes, the $40 copay was a joke... but what really set-in as disappointment & anger is that he compromised the quality of my visit as means to get back on track with his other appointments. I am 100% confident this was his intention given his demeanor and watch-observing for the full 10 minutes he was in the room with me! As a doctor, it is your job to share the knowledge you learned in Medical School with your patients; to have conversations about topics your patients are unfamiliar with; to bring awareness & education to topics and connect the dots how it relates to your patient's health/life. You should especially have that courtesy to do so when you force your patient to waste sick hours at work right before a surgery nonetheless to come in the office to discuss this with you. Especially when they sit in your waiting room for over 60 minutes, yet only get 10 minutes of that hour with you. ***It is NOT in your job description to interrupt your patient's questions with a statement such as "let's go ahead and get back to your questions" because you deem the question irrelevant or a waste of your time. I am the one paying YOU to take care of ME. Furthermore, it is NOT in your job description to stand up in the middle of a "mandatory in-house consultation" to wash your hands, open the door, and say as your WALKING THROUGH THE DOOR WITH YOUR BACK TURNED AWAY FROM ME "call me or email me if you have any questions".*** In the end, don't make your patients come into your office to discuss a surgery if you are not going to give them 20-30 minutes of your time. If you plan to allot only 10 minutes, you should be upfront with them when you code the OV-10. It's not rocket science.
While Dr. Kanos is an excellent physician, the office hours here confuse me a great deal. I called today at 4:15 pm and received the standard "our office is closed, please call back another time." message. The hours are until 5:00 p.m. so I find it quite frustrating that one would need to continue calling back to get a simple prescription refill if you are calling well within business hours. Since it is a Friday afternoon, it means I'll have to wait until Monday which is just plain frustrating.
Dr. Kanos is the best OBGYN hands down!!!!! I have a nickname for Dr. Kanos “MCDREAMY” his calm demeanor puts you at ease. He has operated on me twice, three years apart and he’s done a fantastic job on each operation. His immediate staff, from Madonna to Joanna are the absolute sweetest, empathetic women you will meet, couple them with Dr. Kanos and you know what Patient healthcare entails. He is consistent, overly competent and empathetic. He’s been my family’s OBGYN for over a decade now. His skills are unmatched!!! Thank you Dr. Kanos & 8th Avenue doctors staff, you all are exceptional!!!!
