Dr Chu was incredibly rude to me and insensitive. I was very concerned and nervous for the procedure I was scheduled for and she answered all of my questions in a very condescending way. Telling me “let’s google everything you’re going to google”, read aloud what google said about women’s health and said “there google is right do you feel better” It was completely dehumanizing and I absolutely will never return.
Dr. Chu is one of the worst Dr's I've ever seen. I explained how nervous I was about my post menopausal bleeding. She was very matter of fact. She sent me downstairs to schedule a intravaginal sonogram. The next available test wasn't for 9 weeks. I came back upstairs to ask if I could have the test elsewhere. She would not speak to me. I was told to post to my chart. After the test i reached out several times. Calls were not returned. My chart messages went ignored. When she finally responded she said someone on the staff would reach out to schedule another appointment. After weeks Of waiting i fuond another practice.. Don't let this substandard type care happen to you!!
I wish I would have read the reviews. I agree with most. Do not waste your time or money going to see Dr. Chu. Her office is so rude and condescending. I wanted my BC removed and they said -- we can't help you. They clearly didn't want to do it. Dr Chu said I can't find it but then found it and said go somewhere else. From the start you can sense they just didn't want to deal with it and then offered me a PAP instead. I'm not due for it and then I wanted a new bc but I just said I am good as I will find a new Dr. Her and her office are just rude and not welcoming. Go somewhere else!
I have a meh/hate relationship with Dr. Chu and her office staff. She is not a bad doctor but just from an administration stand point the office is run awfully. And she is apart of the problem. Like someone else mentioned you can literally test positive for a bladder, yeast, irregular pap or whatever and the doctor will go on leave and NO ONE follows up. You and your condition will just wait, worsen or whatever until she returns. You’ll have to call back AGAIN and remind them once she’s back in the office. She is off Monday and Friday, so this happens very often. She also doesn’t always listen. I have had to advocate for myself and have felt that she either distrusted me or was just generally guarded with simple medication/treatment. ie a yeast infection. As a result, I felt like I was subjected to additional scrutiny, appts and testing just to come to the conclusion that I originally mentioned. And even after this happened 4 or 5 times over the last 2 years she never loosened up on me. I could call today and report the same thing and she’d take me through the same thing again… appointment, testing, me fighting for the results, staff saying they don’t see that I ever came in and took any test, finally finding test, finally get results via my chart online, they forget to follow up after results are released I call to inquire, she doubts that she didn’t follow up before and swears she sent medication, checks sees she didn’t and finally send medication to pharmacy. Takes 2 or 3 weeks minimum. I’ve changed my insurance for the new year and will be seeking a new doctor.
As one who frequents the doctors office and visits the portals to frequently, I found the offices of Dr. Chu failed to make every effort to inform me of a major flag on my first ever mammogram. The office stated they mailed three letters regarding my results of which I received one. The doctor became defensive and informed me they don’t call or send any messages via the My Chart portal. As a doctor, they are responsible for our care and clear communication. This doctor came highly recommended and made a grave mistake. In my final email to her, I asked that she/her offices do better by her patients.
Dr. Chu is a gem. I am so happy a random internet search lead me to her. Highly competent, informative, compassionate - and she's funny too!
Great doctor but front desk was harassing me to wear a surgical mask although I had my own mask. No one else not even the doctors were as concerned. I even explained that I had just tested negative for covid which I did not have to even explain that to them, I was trying to be patient with them. They were rude, nasty eye rolling using up there energy for no reason. I did not allow the to bully me into wearing the surgical mask they have to wear for work. I stayed wearing my mask : don’t let them bully you.
DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR. I have no idea how her rating is so high on medical sites. She may be a good doctor in the academic sense of the phrase I can't confirm this, only assuming since a reputable organization as Mount Sinai employs her, but she has not a single clue how to deal with patients in a civil manner. My wife had a horrendous experience here, including a long wait time, being told that she 'wasn't that sick', and that there was nothing the doctor can do for her. On top of this, general rudeness and condescension. If you value being treated with respect and due care, find a different doctor.
Had a gyn exam and urine analysis with Dr Chu on Oct 22, 2019. No call, email or letter notification that I have a bladder infection until my pharmacy notified me this week that they got a prescription request on Nov 4 why so late? but they are unable to fill prescription because RX written wrong. They reached out to Dr Chu office several times. No answer. I called several times. Now it’s Nov 8 and I am still not any antibiotic because the Dr has gone MIA. I called Mount Sinai at 6pm after hours last night and they originally said she is not on their staff list ?. I called back and then said they reached out to the dr on call. At 10pm, the ‘dr on call’ called me and said he is not the back-up for Dr Chu and no idea why they paged him. Today is Day 16 with no antibiotic in system to fight bladder infection. Going to new doctor today! Dr Chu, where are you?
I would recommend against going to Dr. Kristine Chu, simply because the process of dealing with her office is impossible - and they do not reply to inquiries to help their clients resolve issues. I went to Dr. Chu for the first time last summer, and her practice coded something incorrectly that resulted in a $200 bill of lab work. For months I have been calling her office - the majority of the time the calls are accidentally routed to the main Mount Sinai front desk, and I've spoke with receptionists who are unhelpful, tell me they are unable to connect me to the doctor's office because the office "isn't taking calls" and instead they've taken my message 10+ times, none of which has resulted in a call back. The few times I have successfully connected to her front desk which is random apparently depending when you call, I've spoken with unhelpful people who tell me that I'll receive a call back from the person who handles billing - and she has never called me back. My insurance company also can't get in touch with them. It's been an endless cycle of frustration over something that could have been solved in a 10 minute call. I would recommend going elsewhere and saving yourself the trouble. Not sure who would want to deal with a doctors office who is unwilling to get on the phone to help you resolve a simple issue.
