High Intensity Interval Training can be most readily defined as, “physical exercise that is characterized by brief, intermittent bursts of vigorous activity, interspersed by periods of rest or low-intensity exercise." Scientific research done on overweight and insufficiently active adults found that, “shorter-duration HIIT was more enjoyable and functioned to better preserve affect in overweight and insufficiently active adults than longer-duration HIIT and heavy continuous exercise is promising.” This means that even for out of shape adults HIIT has a substantially positive effect on how greatly one enjoys their physical fitness regimen.
