I want to put a great review in for this business but with some explanation. I have noticed some negative reviews in the recent past on this business and I think the common dominator is that this is not an easy business to be in right now. Labor is short and supplies are limited and cars are complex and can have many functional problems arise especially during and engine swap or replacement. I recently took my sons 1993 240 sx into this business and worked directly with Tyler on this project. It involved removing and rebuilding and entire engine from bottom up. I was able to have the engine removed rebuilt and reinstalled in my car. This was not an instant process because several other entities were involved. The first was supply chain for our special parts, the second was a machine shop that has its own schedule and list of problems and back flow. The third was available labor to reinstall the rebuilt engine. Like many of you out there today we want everything done now, done fast and done cheap and done well. None of these conditions apply to taking old worn out engines from cars and reinstalling less worn out engines back into the car without complications. Some how this business has been able to make this happen. I am not envious of the difficulty of this job. I think there needs to be a great reset on what we should expect when we are swapping used engines for used engines or even new engines. I will sympathize with Tyler on trying to sequence this on multiple cars for many customers. Like many of you I was mad when my car was not done in two weeks, but soon realized this was not possible. So my summary to everyone doing business with this scenario is you can ask for a few things on the list above but you cant have them all. If you want it done well and affordably you may have to roll with the shops schedule. If you want it done poorly and quickly just write a bad review for your mechanic and shop owner. We are all human beings trying to make a living and get our bad cars fixed. What I know about Tyler, Joseph and Ruddy is that they do care about your car and the success of doing business with you but they are not good at telling you how many road blocks they are going to encounter fixing your junk. Please show grace and give this business a chance and I think you might be surprised with a great outcome if your patient. If you expect perfect communication and a fancy office with a coffee machine and TV do not go here. If you want some one that knows how to swap your junk than this is the place.
Ordered a Transmission was told I would have it by the end of the week. It took 2 full months to ever see it. So skip forward 1 week later transmission got installed and it's no good!!! Ok glad it has a warranty, YEAH RIGHT!! After multiple phone calls and text story after story 6 months later he has now decided to not answer my calls.i have been lied to and this man is a theif, read the reviews people!!! So I am currently out 800 or so and hoping local law enforcement gets to it soon enough people do not believe a thing this man tells you. You have been warned.
Over a month after my engine arrived with several broken parts, Tyler has lied to me about shipping replacement parts more than 6 times. I have been told the parts were being shipped when they clearly weren't. The motor that arrived was not the one shown in pictures. Both Tyler and another employee have done everything they can to get me off the phone and provided me with nothing. They have passed the buck on to the shippers who have made it clear to both Tyler and myself that they will not discuss the matter with me. This has gotten to the point where I have not received any of the call backs I was promised I would receive and now they don't even answer the phone when I call at all. Take your money elsewhere, there are plenty of more competent and respectable JDM engine warehouses on the East Coast.
I gave this repair shop $8900 for a Maseriti Engine with less than 28k miles that they never ordered from Diesel powered engines. The shop initially told me it would take a week or two to complete the work. They gave me excuse after excuse thru texts and phone calls until I actually went by the shop to check on the car after a month and half . The car appeared to have never been moved. There were spider webs underneath it. Tyler lied over and over. He stated I'm working on the new engine several times. It's on the lift. He ordered an engine seal and cam phaser for my new engine from the Maseriti. Tyler stated the part was in and he was working on the engine. I called Maseriti of charlotte and Diesel power engines. The Maseriti shop did not receive any call from Tyler, Rudy, JDM engines or Diesel Powered Engines. Diesel Powered engine stated they don't even sell this engine. I have a print out of an invoice from Diesel powered engine that Tyler sent thru email. Tyler cashed my check early July. The last lie that was told to me was that they ordered the wrong engine and they ordered a another one with more miles that what was initially discussed. The last time I went to the shop, Tyler called a rep to check the order status and the rep said there was no order place. Now I have to take this company to court to get all my money back. They're trying to offer half for no engine and no service. Here's another lie they told me. "we work on Maseriti" then saying they had to order parts to do the work. another lie, we ordered a battery for the car and we'll pull it on your bill. What I feel that company was trying to do was repair the engine that was already in the car and act like they installed another one. The car has a scratch that wasn't there and the power steering light is now on. Feels like the car was taken for a joy ride. I would not have known any of this if I did not drive to the shop and check on the car. I drove to the shop 4 times and they kept lying.
Best motor I've ever bought no problems good service first time i hit the switch it fired rite up loved it 9 months later same motor still running strong
If I could rate this place less than 1 I would. The WORST customer service, they don’t communicate with their customers. It seems to be a trend as other customers have also complained about the same thing. Please do yourself a favor and save yourself your time and money and take your business elsewhere.
Purchased an engine for my Camry two years ago. Still running great. Love these guys
Absolutely worst place I could have brought my car, it was at their shop for a whole month with no updates about anything going on, tried to contact the owner and the shop multiple times but got no response and no work was done to my car AFTER BEING THERE A WHOLE MONTH
Bought an engine and transmission to replace in my wife’s 03 Altima. The car is like new and they will work with you if you have any issues with anything. Deff will use them again.
Bought an engine from them and ended up needing a refund due to something that happened with the car that would have been receiving the engine. Restocking fee that was asked of me was quite high considering the engine was never even shipped, but after some negotiation, a reasonable fee was agreed upon. Had a little bit of trouble dealing with the owner of the shop, but the employee that processed my refund was incredibly kind and understanding. Overall, they had a great selection of parts and were ultimately able to fulfill the needs for my project, just simply didn’t work out for me.
