From NY just moved here looking a honest mechanic i could start taking my show car for upgrades and repairs, i needed my battery swapped, i called in they told me 65 bucks on the phone after giving them all my car's info, and i was told it shouldn't take more than half an hour to do. I go in and they decide to charge me 80 instead and laughed at me and said that's "just a estimate" so they can get me inside the shop, on top of that they decided to teach the new guy how to swap a battery on my car so it took an hour to get done. I understand you are teaching someone so they can get better at the job but not at the customers expense and time. i used to always swap my own battery out myself and it doesn't take anymore than 20 minutes but because of moving i lost my tools i had no choice but to go to a shop, safe to say i won't be coming back for the other stuff i had planned to bring. EDIT: After owners response: Couldn't have the decency of checking the labor guide on the phone after i gave you my vehicles year, exact model and if it was the front or rear battery. "not what you think it is", that 65 is a quote from your end not mine, it's not what i thought it was, it was what i was told you by you. I understand the technician beside him was certified, that still doesn't change the fact that a 20-30 minute job turned to a hour of my time. a single connection on top of my red side of my battery is not "aftermarket nonsense" nor was it something that would take extra time to put back on top of the battery, it was a wire for my $5000 air suspension system. Very classy shop. You lose nothing from not scalping me with your own battery you call "overhead cost" you make 80 dollars off a 30 minute job, call yourself blessed. I understand you have clueless customers coming in and out that you can charge whatever you'd like, im sorry i hurt your ego for calling you out.Service: Battery
I had just bought a car from a dealer and about a month in it was making noises. Richard was very friendly, kind, and explained everything in terms I could understand. There was a loose guard under the front bumper that he screwed back in for me. The fan that blows out heat and a/c was replaced. And my brakes were thoroughly checked. All for a reasonable price that probably would've been higher elsewhere. I will be bringing my new car here for all of its routine service from now on. Thanks Richard!
Some of the best service I've had at a repair shop in a while. They were able to quickly order the part I needed to fix my A/C and take care of repairs within a few hours for a very reasonable price compared to others. Would highly recommend!!Services: A/C installation & repair
This is why I love the South. We are driving back from a suburb of Nashville, Tennessee, about 3 hours into a 10-hour drive home. All four people have "can't miss" work tomorrow. The AC compressor decides to burn itself out and, in the process, melt a belt to the alternator. It's Sunday morning, close to 9:00am. We are doomed. Except By God’s grace, Jim’s Automotive! After calling many places that are of course closed on Sunday, we find Jim's Automotive. Jim himself tells us that, not only are they open, but they can get the parts and will fix it asap. Jim, Wendell, and the team had it all fixed and us out the door in less than three hours. The cost was half of what mechanics in Maryland would charge.Services: General repairs & maintenance
I needed some work done because I did not pass a safety inspection. They put on new brake shoes, new brake drums, and an oil change all in the same day so it was their usual efficient work. It was more than I hoped it would cost but I don't think I was gouged
This is an amazing place!! The owner, is very supportive and keeps you informed as to what is going on with your vehicle. The prices are very reasonable and the service is personal. I have been going here for several years and will continue.
These guys are great. I am an avid DIY guy and know quite a bit a about cars. But when I can't figure it out I go to Jim's. They always give me a fair price and explain exactly why they are doing something. The one time they could not diagnose what was going on with my vehicle, they would not even let me pay them. They probably could have indetified it eventually, but they knew it wasn't cost effective and gave me a few suggestion on where to start myself. Can't say enough good things about their character.
I had a 20 year old Nissan Sentra that Richard kept running for 2 years longer than it should have. You call and get an answer quickly, willing to work you in even if they are busy and even took my calls when I needed advise when I was stranded. This shop is has always been honest, given options before doing the work and gotten the work done in a reasonable time. They stay busy, there isn’t a waiting area, but the personal touch and honest assessment really make them the best around.
