We had a reservation for 2 and were quickly seated. The rolls were delicious as usual. Very fresh tasting. The Bbq eel roll was my favorite. I had the scallops for the first time, not knowing what to expect, and it was very good. It was tender and sweet. Giving the atmosphere a 1 star because of a fight that broke out in the restaurant. We left quickly afterward.
Very nice, clean, great service and perfect sushi. I got the chefs selection which came with soup, salad and one sushi roll. Great cuts and nice presentation.Food: 5/5
Strange place. A huge facade with an almost hidden entrance covers a very long room that feels more like a corridor, containing generously-spaced, but very small tables, in a way that one feels compressed amidst lots of empty room. Food ok, nothing special. Personnel desperately needs training.Food: 3/5
This was one of the best sushi experiences I’ve had! We went on a Saturday evening, and it was phenomenal. We got seated immediately, and was greeted kindly by our server, Emily. We had fried pork gyoza and the stuffed avocados which were amazing. We also had the crunch munch, rock n’ roll, a California roll, shrimp tempura maki roll, MKE roll and the flaming Oh My God roll. We also dipped on sweet pear drink. Our server was so incredibly attentive and kind. She would see about anything we need. Ultimately, this is a place that every person who loves sushi should go! This is an outstanding place for sushi.
This was our second time at Kanpai. The food was fabulous. We had a large group13, so we made reservations ahead of time. Everyone ordered something different, and everything I tried was exceptional. I really loved the Hawaiians volcano as they light it at the table, and it brings a beautiful flavor to the roll. I had salmon belly nigiri, and it was exceptional. The Boss roll was so flavorful. We also had the Sweet and Spicy Gyoza which was truly delicious. I can't wait to go back.
Everything about this restaurant was great! The service was top notch, as well as the atmosphere. There are plenty of tables and large roomy booths. I HIGHLY recommend getting the stuffed avocado as a starter. For an entree they have a great selection of sushi rolls and other food for the non sushi crowd. Definitely get at least one roll that is served flaming.
UPDATE: After being invited back to give Kanpai another try, I returned excited to try something new. We had the Oyster Shooter which had a nice bite, Stuffed Avocado which was absolutely amazing, Menage a Trois, Dragons Den, Boss, Blue Fin Nagiri Atoro, Truffle Parmesan Akimi an interesting and savory blend of flavors and Vegetable Udon. All were extremely delicious, and the presentation was beautiful. Our reservation was taken without hassle, and followed up with a confirmation text. We were seated in a well lit booth near the sushi bar, which is always a showpiece. Unfortunately, there was no bartender the night we were there, and they were down a host. This meant the owner and on-site staff had to work extra hard to service the guests. While there was a wait for drink and food, the quality of what we had was worth the wait. I will definitely be going back to eat my fill of sushi! Vegetarian options: Tofu options are available. Kid-friendliness: Fried rice and chopstick helpers available.
Food was good but for a place that wasn't very busy it took a long time to get service. Could have been a number of things but my wife and I were surprised to be waiting so long when we arrived and then evert step of the dinner. Still it's good sushi and the atmosphere is good for date night. Vegetarian options: We got the sweet potato rolls. Absolutely brilliant. Parking: There is a paid parking lot just next door Wheelchair accessibility: Entrance is easily accessible
Pretty solid sushi place that was close to our hotel, there's a parking garage basically right next door. Went on a week day so hard to gauge how popular this place is, the 'O My God' roll was fun they light it on fire at the table. I had the ginger old fashioned, it was a pretty mid old fashioned. The bathrooms need some help with cleaning. Service was fast and friendly. Bottom line, worth it as a dinner option but wouldn't be my top pick. - Cheers
UPDATE 2: Please read the replies the owner has given to me. You sir or ma'am are out of control. Someone needs to take your keyboard away. My original review was mixed with critiques *and* complements. Why would you be so negative in front of the world? Again, I would NEVER go here unless you want to be belittled and yelled at virtually or in person. UPDATE: I originally gave this restaurant a 4 star review and mentioned some honest feedback. But recently the owner decided to reply in a very sarcastic manner stating "I'll call you when I need an interior designer". K bud. Here's a 1 star from your "interior designer". ORIGINAL REVIEW: Mediocre sushi. The restaurant had a good ambiance but needed a bit of extra care. There was a light fixture hanging all askew and some of the wood finish was wearing off. Vegetarian options: Their vegetarian options had meat in then! Dietary restrictions: Will not change their meals at all to accommodate specific needs Parking: Had to walk four blocks away Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly Wheelchair accessibility: Horrible transitions that make wheelchair accessibility a nightmare
