The shop owners are the only reason I gave this 2 stars because they are genuinely great people. However, the rest of the warehouse left me wanting more. Many of the products were chaotically arranged wigs in particular, not really consistent with their organization. I came for Mehron paint but ended up leaving with nothing as the products for sale looked as if they had been on display for years. Packaging was falling apart and did not feel sanitary to me to buy. I think I'll just stick with buying directly from Mehron's website in the future. Another dissatisfier is the location. I am sure the neighborhood was once a diamond in the rough but that is not the case. While I was there, a guest literally stood in the doorway of the shop to make sure his car wasn't broken into and his work tools stolen.

Kansas City Costume continues to provide the best of service when it comes to all things theatrical!! Their custom designed and made costumes are amazing and fit extremely well. KCDC dancers will once again look and feel professional on stage!

I was disappointed in the prices of the rentals. We ended up buying a costume online for half what they wanted for a one-day rental. The items to buy are better. They have a wide variety and decently priced. I'm surprised they don't have any shoes though.

We drive across town to shop here. The staff seem to be all theater geeks so they can answer a host of questions from makeup application & techniques to wigs & facial hair to cosplay props. Loved this place when it was downtown. Still love it and it's totally worth the drive.

Outdated costumes. It’s much more of a theatrical costume store than anything else. They don’t have a huge selection. I went looking for a pirate costume which I was told on the phone they had a good selection from. It was disappointing but I’m giving them 2 stars because they were super nice. I just wish I could have gotten what I went for and not wasted a trip. It was also very out of the way and pretty crowded inside.

Awesome selection and amazing staff. They had the perfect looking costume but the pants didn’t fit. They hemmed the legs and even added a panel in the back so they would fit perfectly. Cannot recommend enough!

This place was awesome. The staff helped us pick rental costumes when we had no idea what we really wanted. So many other things available beyond rentals. Worth a visit!

This place has the worst customer service. I’ve been forced to use this place to rent Santa suits for years and I strongly urge anyone to look else where. I lost the hat to the Suit one year and they tried to charge me $800 for the entire Suit stating that the whole Suit was worthless without the hat because the velvet they use to make the new hat wont match properly. This year I got hung up at the grocery store and traffic and called ahead to tell them I was running late. Said I’d pay someone $60 to wait 15 mins for me and the manager refused and refused to ask any of his employees if they would help me. So in the spirit of Xmas and giving this place doesn’t care about anything but themselves. Granted i should have given myself more time but I own my own business and I wait for people all the time past closing hours to help them out. These are just not very good people and supporting them in any way does not align you with good people. Merry Xmas KC Costume.

I'm thoroughly disappointed in the selection that they have any more. If you need lace, ribbon, feathers or specialty fabrics this was the place to go. The store is much smaller and crowded and I felt like the offered the same thing most costume shops carry now. I wish they would have stayed in downtown KC.

I really love that they have a very large inventory that u can chose from every thing is awesome they have wigs u can rent costumes they have a few people and they have makeup as well one thing tho they are a little pricey over all I really like the store their service is awasome!!
