We had the Katsuhama special set, Berkshire pork loin with 2 prawns, the oroshi Berkshire pork loin and warabi mochi for dessert. The katsu dishes were fantastic and highly recommended. The warabi mochi dessert was half frozen and not what I expected. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't recommend it, otherwise excellent mealFood: 5/5
Had a great meal here! I ordered the chicken Katsu curry. The curry was really rich and flavourful, while the chicken was crispy and juicy. The portion was huge and the dining experience was very efficient, with most of the seating being solo against the bar or wall. It’s one of the best Japanese curry’s I’ve had and I will definitely be back!
Katsu-Hama is a great spot for katsu, plain and simple. The restaurant offers a variety of food items, making it approachable for everyone. I would definitely return if I’m in the Midtown area.Food: 5/5
Visited here for dinner. We found sears at the counter since all the tables were full. Ordered chicken katsu and beer. Service was pretty good. Katsu came with miso soup and cabbage saladFood: 4/5
Not as good as a year ago. 1 The corner of the pork loin were all fat. Real Japanese katsu would’ve removed that. 2 they’re really busy so the waiters are not really providing any service. Our entire hour there, no water refill, no taking away empty plates, no checking in. For the price point, we would expect at least some service 3 bathroom is dirty. No paper towel, only hand dryer so water were splashing everywhere
The portion are really generous, the takoyaki are a little bit too fried. The shrimp cream croquette is surprisingly good. The Berkshire katsu is really well made and soft but the portion is so enormous haha.Food: 4/5
The most succulent, crispy, and savory Katsu to ever exist. This is truly a MUST-GO Japanese spot in NYC. The Katsu is gloriously crispy and thick, and the portions are generous. Dishes come with different accompaniments miso soup, potato salad, etc. depending on which style you order. The Teishoku includes cabbage salad, miso soup, and rice. The alcohol collection is vast and has something for every palate. The sake menu provides a scale for the tasting notes of each bottle. Expect to pay $25-30 for an entrée and $15+ for drinks.
One of my favorite places in NYC. Food is delicious, drinks are cold, and service amazing. Definitely recommendFood: 5/5
