Kellari Taverna

A random decision to stop here for a drink turned into a discovery of a solid spot that I am definitely coming back to. The bartenders were amazing, introduced me to a Greek beer and answered lots of questions that a first timer as myself had in a friendly way while making available some delicious cheese at my service. I didn't plan to stay too long, so did not get to try the menu which was quite interesting. Next time I will. I recommend bringing a date here, especially if he or she is into seafood.

Delicious traditional and modern Greek Mediterranean menu. Terrific Greek wine list. Full bar and wonderful warm service. A very welcoming happy place where they make you feel like a regular — in a part of midtown where most places treat you like a tourist even if you’re a local. Do not skip the avgolemono soup! My favorite version of chicken lemon soup for a cold day.

Loved it. Went and used the pre-theater dinner menu and it was great. Really want to go back again and just order off the menu. The fresh fish on ice looked awesome with the largest shrimp I have ever seen that night ( each was almost a pound a piece) got the lamb chops and they were perfect. And we made it to our show in plenty of time.

Every year we go up to NY for the Westminster Dog Show, and without fail we always have dinner the first night at Kellari! From a freaking awesome wine list, to delicious fresh seafood (the on-ice display case is a wonderful touch), it without fail is always a wonderful experience. While I'm generally not a huge grilled octopus fan, make sure to try it here- it will win you over!!!

We love this place! Delicious authentic Greek food. Fresh fish, amazing wine selection, & beautiful place calls for a great meal! We go whenever we're in town.
