Kempsville's Ace Hardware

Ace Hardware of Kempsville is like an old time family store. You can find almost anything there. They also have a Post Office in this store that is staffed by the nicest person ever. The whole staff at Ace is very knowledgeable and super friendly. They also have a small but really nice gift shop. I LOVE this place!!!!

Walked in, immediately asked if I could be helped, shown exactly what I needed, made my purchase. All with the biggest smiles and friendliest service.

Had three propane tanks to refill today. So I decided to try a little experiment. I took one to Walmart to exchange because it was rusted. I paid $19.92. I took two tanks to Kempsville's Ace Hardware and got them filled. I paid $25.00 each. When I got home I weighed the tanks. The Walmart tank weighed 33.6 lbs. The ACE tanks weighed 33.6 lbs and 36.2 lbs. The service was better at ACE but was it worth the extra $5 per tank with such a huge difference in weights? How often do you get the same amount of gas at ACE that you can get at Walmart for $5 less?

Very helpful and engaging staff. The store was clean and well stocked. We were able to find everything we needed at a reasonable price.

Been here 3 times since in town for as many weeks and dealt with several employees. They have zero personal/customer service skills and have no desire/inclination to develop any. Astonishing. Asked why the sign says they’re still open. They didn’t know more than I could believe it!

Only worked with one Ace worker and he was an ace. Everybody else was just smiling real nice. You would do better here than going to Slowes or Gnome depot.

Very helpful staff. The salesman not only showed me where the items were that I was interested in, he carried a heavy bag of soil not only to the counter but to my car as well. Very thoughtful! Thanks again!

In and out in 10 minutes with a working copy of my Ford Expedition key at a fraction of the cost from the dealer.

My husband and I rented a U-Haul from this location. We did not expect to get the best customer service we’ve ever gotten. The staff at this location are above the rest. We recently moved to Hampton but if we need anything for our home we’ll make the trip to this location. This is the Disney World of Hardware stores! I would know I’m from FL. I only remember Mike’s name but the lady who was working with him was awesome as well. Their teamwork is really good. They were smiling and helpful the entire time. Even gave us some really great tips for things for our home. Keep up the great work guys! We need more customer service like yours.

Me and a few others drove up to a closed store at 6pm but Google maps stated this location was open till 7pm. Accurate info or an update would’ve been helpful. Please update your store info on Google maps. As a customer driving around the busy Hampton roads, I rely on accurate information especially during rush hour or sever weather alerts like today.The rating was for the inconvenience. I never stepped foot into the store, it was closed early.
