The restaurant serves incredibly delicious and spicy Thai cuisine, and the staff is kind and engaging. If you're craving authentic Thai food or want to get a taste of what it's like before you visit Thailand, this is the perfect place to do so.Food: 5/5
I came to this place at least 5 times for quick meal and easy food. Khao Kang in Thai is the type of restaurant that make a meal for people who in a rush hour, lunch break and after work and just want to take out and go home. The food is already made and warm up in food stand. You can pick one, two or three and put them over rice or order just a food then the rice on the side. I found that it saves lots of time and cheaper than go eat in the restaurant. If you go to Thailand, this kind of restaurant is all over the country but in New York, this type of place isn't a lot. The location of Khao kang is in the middle of Thai town in Queens, so if you want to try local quick meal Thai food. Khao Kang is one of the places you should try.
After a year live in elmhurst area, i never explore this "little Thailand street" which is just 10mins walking from my place. I've heard this place several times from my friends, but never try it. And finally last sunday i tried, and it was really good. And today i come again with another friends to have lunch here. Really recommend if you look something tasty, spicy, and good price absoloutely.
I've visited this spot many times. The process is simple, you choose your dish, served over rice, and they have a range of spice levels available. These are indicated with different colors on the dish name tag, so it's really easy to find something you'll love. The place isn't a sit-and-serve restaurant, you grab your food and seat yourself, and clean up after. It's a perfect spot for a no-fuss lunch or an easy dinner. It's also good for takeout and delivery!
The $15 dollar lunch with 3 entrees is a good amount of food for a lunch or quick dinner. Very casual, cafeteria style sit-down place. Food was good. Some of the meats were on the chewy side, fried fish options were cold and a little soggy. It's expected for cafeteria style, so I'd say to stick with the fresher items. Ground pork and black pepper pork were good. Spice level was good for me, but I have an above average spice level compared to the average American, so you might find it spicier than other places. However, that green curry was incinerating my mouth. It wasn't obscenely spicy, but the spice lingered and wouldn't go away. Could not finish it at all. Thai iced tea was nice. Not too sweet. Tea flavor is not too strong. Good balance.
The taste of home for me! Have been looking forward to eating here for a little while now after seeing all the food reviews. Recommend you know what some of the dishes are/taste like, otherwise you'd be gawking and trying to figure out how each dish tastes and hold up the line counter area is a bit tight. Recommend getting 3-item combo. It's 15$ cash only. You may have leftovers. So much food and everything was so flavorful!!
Absolutely delicious. Plan on coming back for more!!! The meat just falls apart. Beautiful atmosphere and excellent customer service!Food: 5/5
If I could give this place five Michelin stars, I would. This is hands down one of the best Thai eateries in New York City. I’ve never been so impressed with the flavors they have to offer. From their spicy curries, decadent garlic pepper pork, succulent seafood options, and palate cleansing desserts, you will leave this place wanting to come back every week. You can do a two dish entree for $13 and 3 dish entree for $15. I highly recommend getting the 3 dish option, so you have a chance to try more of their delicacies. Make sure you bring lots of cash before coming here. The servers are also incredibly nice and generous with the amount of portions they give. Be nice to them and leave them a tip, because their kindness and hospitality is truly unmatched. Eating here makes me feel at home. The dishes are homemade, and the flavors will make your palate burst with satisfaction. My absolute favorite to get are the garlic pepper pork and pork larb. It’s spicy, tangy, and will simply leave you wanting more. I would recommend this place to friends who have a craving for spice, or want to get a taste of home and remember what proudly makes them Thai.
One of the most authentic and good value place in Thai town! Great service despite being a quick casual place, decent seatings available for group and individual counter seating facing the wall wide selection of sides/entrees/non-alcoholic drinks such as Thai Iced tea, Thai Iced coffee, longan juice, and desserts/appetizer option to go. For 2 or 3 sides option over rice at less than $16, this place give generous portion with robust flavor in each dish. A must try spot in Thai town! Only call out is it is a cash only place. Street parking option available nearby and front of restaurant.
