I know there are Kung Fu Tea places around the country but there is something special about going to Kung Fu Tea in Chinatown in New York City. The place was super tiny and there was about eight people in this tiny place. It is an awesome place to pick up a matcha tea but next time, we’re going to try out a local boba tea place.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: YesDelivery: NoCurbside pickup: No
ALLERGIES BEWARE! There is DAIRY in the “non dairy” powder! Two staff told me it was non dairy twice. I asked to see the ingredients because I have a deadly allergy. The ingredients list says “whey protein” which is from cow’s milk and can kill people with milk protein allergies. Please see photos of the ingredients list staff let me take. I almost got a tea with it in it. I could’ve ended up in the ER. Vegans-You are also consuming milk and not knowing it if you have had any Kung Fu Tea drinks that contain this powder. Kung Fu Tea, PLEASE educate your staff and don’t advertise a product as non dairy if there is milk in it.
I think the drinks here are good, as I’ve visited this store 2-3 times now. I had Honey Oolong Milk Tea with Boba, the drink was nice but sweeter than usual could be because of the honey? and the boba was nice & soft.
So happy I found Kung Fu Tea! They have a huge variety of teas and I love their „Punch“ options because I usually prefer fruit teas over milky ones. Will go back soon to try more!
Ordered a small thai tea with tapioca and it was probably one of the worst Thai teas I’ve ever had. It tasted burnt and had the worst after taste. Honestly I don’t even think it could be considered Thai tea it tasted nothing like it. The tapioca was also quite disappointing and harder than preferred.
I decided to stop at this tea shop because of their high reviews. I ordered a Thai milk tea with bubbles. I expected it to be slightly sweet and a bit smoothly creamy, that wasn’t remotely the case. It had a strong bitter green tea after taste. Service was mediocre. Don’t get why all the high reviews if they lack customer service and the simple and popular teas are not good
Their drinks are yummy! Really like their passion fruit slush. The only thing I don’t like is their tapioca pearls. They’re on the hard and chewy side. A few times it was like that, I think that’s just how they make it. Other than that, everything has been tasty that I’ve tried so far.
A little pricier but good variety of drinks. Seating is limited as is normally the case with these tea places but it's clean with a nice atmosphere. **I personally especially recommend coming here for hot drinks! They come in nicer cups and its a decent amount as well. Others have said it's crowded and I won't deny it, as it can get crowded. But if you can catch this place at a quieter time as I've always managed to, it's not bad at all.
I know they don’t care about their reviews on google but I am still going to say it. I get that there is minimum spending amount required for people who want to use credit card. This is a thing in Chinatown. This is not right but a lot of stores/restaurants/shops still do it in Chinatown. No problem! But you have be consistent. If you are going to do it then do it to everyone; don’t only and just ask Asians to follow your rule. Three weeks ago which it’s my second time, I went to this place get a hot bubble tea. From my first visit, I learned that in this shop when you say you wanna pay with credit card, next they will tell you that they are going to charge additional fee which is 4% on the top of your charge. My second time three weeks ago, I paid my drink with cash. Next person who is not Asian, the cashier did not say anything at all or charge her additional 4% fee when she showed her credit card and paid for her one $5ish drink. I did not say anything because I thought the policy might have been changed. Today 11/8 Friday, I ordered a drink and said I am gonna use Apple Pay then, the same cashier from three weeks ago, immediately asked my if I have cash and brought up the $10 minimum for using credit card policy. I did tell him what I saw three weeks ago but he just ignored me and repeated the $10 policy again. It’s not right and I won’t be there again no matter what.
I paid for boba & didn’t receive any boba.
