I have been seeing Dr. Kwon for over 4 years now and I have nothing negative to report about him. He is caring, and from all that I can see, extremely ethical. I really don't understand why others have complained about his practices. I have a great deal of respect for him and I am thankful for his steadfastness and consistent handling of my reason for needing his services...He is all the difference.
Kwon is fine, as long you understand that you are a payment, not a person. I've been seeing him for 3 years without issue, until I had a temporary one month lapse in insurance. He refused to write me prescriptions for one single month. He was extremely rude, accusatory, and definitely crossed the line while interrogating me about my insurance. Your mental and physical health don't matter to him unless he gets paid, regardless of your history with him. I see reviews about Kwon hanging up on people trying to become new patients, and that's because he does not actually want new patients. He will answer a call during your appointment, then complain about the person who called. He also once made rude remarks to me about another patient's weight. You're better off finding someone else.
Doctor Kwon, Is a kind hearted gentleman. I have great respect for him.
I have been going to Dr Kwon for 3 years now, and my experience with him has always been positive. Hes very flexible, and re-scheduling appointments is very easy with him. Thank you Dr. KWON for always taking my calls and emails when i have concerns or personal issues.
He's fine, I guess. I've used him for a few years but largely because of inertia. It's easier to keep going than start somewhere new. Please don't go to him if you need actual menta health assistance. He's not committing malpractice or anything like that but he's not good for much more than maintenance medication, and I always qualify any recommendations I give to my friends and family. If you already have seen a more effective doctor and just need someone to fill out a prescription, you'll be happy. Also there's no receptionist and your appointment time is more like a suggestion because he doesn't hold anyone to anything. Basically it's first come first serve, as long as you have an appointment that day. The only time he's ever mentioned anything about appointment times, it's when I came in the wrong day.
Judge the doctor by the state of his office. Do you think he's organized, healthy and in control? I don't draw skulls on my notepad.
So I've only seen him three times so far, but he's the first psychiatrist I've seen who I've actually liked. I like that he chooses to help a lot of people, which is probably why he was able to fit me in as a new patient at a moment's notice when I had a crisis. He's the first psychiatrist and I've probably seen six or seven who used real diagnostic criteria to determine the appropriate diagnosis for me. He was willing and able to discuss the pros and cons of different medications and what effects they might have on my brain chemistry; the last psychiatrist I saw would say vague things like "[drug X] is sort of like an SSRI, but different" but refused to explain the difference. The complaints I've seen here are just standard medical practice -- no conscientious doctor is going to prescribe medication or refill without an appointment. Or at least, they shouldn't. It has nothing to do with how "nice" the doctor is, and everything to do with their responsibility for your health. He also covers up the sign-in sheet so you can't see the names of others, so you'd have to make an effort to violate someone else's privacy. So, don't? As for the furniture -- it's a doctor's office, not a hotel room. You're there for what, an hour at most? I'd much rather sit on a folding chair with someone who clearly isn't taking kickbacks from pharmaceutical companies another problem with a previous doctor, who put me on something he knew I couldn't afford but insisted it was "okay" because he got free samples than go to a "conventional" psychiatrist's office who keeps me in the dark about my own health. I'll edit this if I have to, but he's the first psychiatrist who has made me feel like an equal in managing my own mental health.
Abusive. Forgets who patients are, or that appointments even occurred. Frequently takes and makes unrelated phone calls during appointments. Only takes cash co-pays. Will not issue refills on even low doses of antidepressants, no matter how many years you have been on them, so you have to see him every month; during these five-minute appointments he only asks if you're "good" and issues another prescription. Oh and, if he forgets you had an appointment, he will make you go without your medication. Having him as my doctor for the last eight months was a nightmare.
I've been going to dr. kwon for a few years now. He was the only person who responded to my phone calls after calling for hours to get a doctor. He is very kind and educated. He takes his practice seriously. I've now referred a few friends to him. I dont see why anyone would give him a negative review. Hes always been very understanding to when I couldnt make it in and made sure to get me in asap. Hes just a kind hearted doctor I love him.
Most terrible doctor I’ve encountered in a while. My mom and I were trying to grab a new patient appt for her, and just because we asked a few basic pre-scheduling appt questions - he rudely hung up on us both separately! DO NOT RECOMMEND.
