Loved the Prickly Pear margarita! My food was wonderful I had the Navajo Taco plate. I chose the beef and red sauce. It was delicious. This is not a corn tortilla taco. The lettuce, tomato, cheese, beef and sauce are served on a piece a puffy fried bread. It was delicious. I will definitely eat here again and next time I try this with chicken and the green sauce.
Handicap friendly, great people and food. 'Post Covid, June 15 and there were plenty of tables - no wait. Took mom and dad out to eat and its not easy with Pops with the whole dignity thing, being in a chair and all. We took parking around and behind the building so he didn't have to worry about people seeing him get in and out of the van... He was anxious. The staff directed us from front door to side door with Handicap ramp. It was easy to navigate and we parked his chair right up to a table. He instantly felt welcome and back to his joking self. As soon as he had a few chips and salsa, grumpies he forgot he was in his chair. Lol So, yes, handicap friendly... Dinner was delicious and I want their recipe for Sopapillas. They were almost as good as moms and if she is not reading this then I can say I'd like to have them from time to time instead of the family recipe. :- Everything was fresh; chips, tacos, beans, rice, chicken - everything. Excellent green chili sauce. Thank You to the great staff who made our experience 5/5 - Excellent and will be back!
A very pleasant atmosphere and just the most friendly waitstaff ever. The food was tasty enough. I’d give them a 3.5 if google let me, but not quite a 4.
The service was quick even though it was lunch rush. I ordered a Dr. Pepper and shared the La Placita's Original Old Town Special with my mom. Both were good. We sat on the patio which had an equal amount of shade and sun. The bathrooms were clean with multiple stalls. They did not charge extra for water, but will charge 20% gratuity for parties of 10 or more. They brought us a craft of Dr. Pepper for our refills which we appreciated. Our water glasses never were half empty, they kept the refills coming quickly. I would dine here again.
Good chips and salsa. The service was good and I recommend the nachos. Fresh ingredients. The nacho plate could have been bigger, all my chips were falling off but I understand the round plate may be for portion control.
This is one of my favorite Albuquerque restaurants, first came here as a child in early 1970's and never forgot the wonderful Southwest ambiance and charm of this establishment. The restaurant is located in a rustic 300-year old stucco building, and each dining room exudes Southwest history and culture. The food and service are generally very good, and the menu features a variety of New Mexican dishes. There is also a children's menu and more general selection of entrees for those who don't prefer Mexican food. The restaurant is an amazing landmark that you should not miss when visiting Albuquerque.
If you are tourist, do NOT eat here. The space is cool but the quality of the food and service don't do New Mexico justice. Then, in my case, you have to listen to your family complain and create a sour mood to the point where you don't even want to spend time with them. They need Gordon Ramsey to come and turn this place around.
The server was nice but not very knowledgeable or helpful in selecting a dish. It's a take-your-order and push you out type of place. The most disappointing part was the food. I ordered the steak fajita sandwich and it was terrible. The steak was tough, besides the grilled veggies and cheese, there was no sauce or mayo so it was very dry. I finally had to exchange it for something different because that dish was so bad. The replacement dish, chicken enchiladas, was pretty terrible also! Please, just save yourself a bad time and avoid eating here. To management: your place has a lot of potential, great history and location. Please just work on the quality of food and your business will flourish. Wishing you good luck in improving!!
I forgot to make a review, for your restaurant, after my road trip to Mo and Ill, from Pasadena, Calif, last October. I really, really enjoyed my lunch at the Patio area, where the huge tree grow, indoor. I love it! Being there for 50+ years. Back in the 60's and 70's, my whole family stopped by this fine restaurant. SOPAPILLAS are our specialty, served with honey. Great salsa, guacamole dip, and chips are excellent. I had a wet burrito with Spanish rice, are superb. There two managers are very nice and helpful. Young waiters are friendly. One lady manager was so friendly, even she asked me because I'm a solo traveler, if she can take pictures of me standing front of the tree. So I replied yes. What's a sweet lady, that I forgot her name. Thank you, lady manager!
Great prices. Big portions of food. Happy hour Monday to Friday 5 till 7 for $3.50 drafts and $5 margaritas. Spicy Spicy salsa. 2 meals split between 2 people still too much to eat. Highly recommend.
