I retained the private services of this lawyer on 2002 when he was associated to another very well known and experienced lawyer. I actually tried to hire the other lawyer, but he passed the case to Mr. Gowdey.
Well, he did nothing for me except taking more than $3,000 in legal fees.
To my surprise, he was rather on the side of the prosecutor. Instead of defending me in court, it all points to the fact that he negotiated with the prosecutors against my best interests. He did not accomplish absolutely nothing in my favor. Not a single thing that I can say my money was well spent. I was actually on my own and at the mercy of the prosecutors. The prosecution overcharged me as they always do and got away with more than they normally do in those cases.
I was broke at the time and could not afford changing lawyers, so I had to take whatever they wanted.
I will never forget this experience in my life. Where is justice?
I thought lawyers were there to defend their clients and not using them as bargaining chips . Something like, I will give up on this client on condition that you give up on another client who is perhaps paying more money, or is a more important case. Sorry, but that was the impression I had of the whole process. I was totally nauseated. You did not demonstrate to me that you were up for justice and the right thing to do, and actually defended me. You went along with the flow.
Mr. Gowdey, karma sometimes get back to you.
I hope some day you change your ways and become a real an honorable lawyer, and above all a man of integrity. Don't follow the crowd of indecent lawyers that have made the judicial system a circus and justice available only to the super rich minority.
Justice was not done in my case!

I just read this review from a case I handled back in 2002. I don't typically respond to reviews, good or bad, but this one seemed so negative, I had to look into it. Quite frankly, I didn't at first remember Mr. Sanchez, since the case was 13 years ago, and I've had thousands of clients since that time. I decided to go onto the Clark County Courts Website to do some research to refresh my recollection. After reading the minutes of court publicly posted on the Clark County Courts Website (www.clarkcounty courts.us/Anonymous) under Case Number C177284, I can now remember the facts of this case. According to the public record as reflected in the court minutes, Mr. Sanchez was charged with six different charges. There were three felony counts, and three gross misdemeanor counts The felony counts were: High Level Trafficking in Controlled Substances; Offer, Attempt or Commission of Unauthorized Acts Relating to Manufacture of Controlled Substances; Unlawful Possession of Substances classified in Schedule 1. He was charged with three gross misdemeanor counts of Unlawful Possession of Dangerous Drugs Without Prescription. To put the case in context: The High Level Trafficking in Controlled Substances charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10-25 years in prison. The other two felonies each carry 2-20 year prison sentences. The gross misdemeanor charges carry a maximum of 1 year in jail on each count. Mr. Sanchez was represented by the Clark County Public Defender's Office for more than 11 months. The offer extended by the District Attorney to the Public Defender during that time contemplated a 5-15 year prison sentence. Mr. Sanchez apparently was not satisfied with the representation they provided him, so he contacted my office, and I agreed to take over representation of him. All of this is a matter of public record, taken directly from the minutes of court. I got on with the representation, and got the offer from the District Attorney lowered to one mid-level trafficking count, which carries a sentence of 2-20 years in prison. The negotiation was for a stipulated 2-5 year term, the minimum for a mid-level trafficking charge. All other counts were to be dismissed pursuant to the negotiation. I understand the realities of life. No one wants to go to prison. Not for two years, not even for one day. But some cases are easier for the State to prove than others. According to the public record, Mr. Sanchez had his case set for trial three times before he hired me. He chose not to go to trial. I got him a better negotiation than he had previously been offered with the Public Defender representing him, which he then accepted. If he considers that to be "doing nothing for me except taking $3000", then so be it. I consider it having saved a client a good amount of time in prison
In this day and age, it is very easy for people to go online and leave negative reviews. There is very little consequence for the person leaving the review. Of course, if the review is unfair, it can badly damage the business reviewed. Over the years, I have helped thousands of clients who are very happy with the work that I have done for them. But happy people don't generally think about writing reviews detailing their legal problems. Only unhappy people do that. Mr. Sanchez was not only unhappy with my representation, he was also unhappy with his previous attorney, as well. Sometimes you have to deal with realities. If you are unhappy with the offer, you must decide if you wish to take the case to trial. Depending on the strength of the government's evidence, there may be a good chance you will be convicted, and face a very harsh penalty. In a very serious case such as this, where the defendant is accused of crimes that carry very harsh penalties, there may be only so much even the best lawyer can do. I did, as I always do, what was best for my client. in this case it was limiting his exposure as much as possible. I did, as I always do, the best job I could do with the case that I had.
