Le Gourmet Cafe

It's an easy-to-miss corner shop in the Old Capitol Mall, but I was amazed at the quality of the food I received! Very reasonably priced, I got a grilled chicken sandwich for $5.50 and it was absolutely delicious. Better than many $10 grilled chicken sandwiches I've had at other places. They don't have any waiting/seating area, so you have to hang back while they make the food, but it was obviously made fresh and the Korean pastries they have in their display case are fantastic! Wonderful for a quick bite that doesn't taste nearly as cheap as it costs!

This place has great hamburgers and fries. It is a small take-out counter inside Old Capitol Town Center with a surprisingly large selection of tasty lunch, breakfast, and dessert options. They even offer soft serve ice cream but make no mistake the star of the cafe are the cakes served by the slice.

Every bit of it stands up to the name, Gourmet. Quality ingredients, preparation, and presentation. Add this place to the list for Iowa City's best burgers.

The Sogalbi-Burger here is awesome and comes at an affordable price. You could even add cheese or change the buns if you want. One of the ladies here is super friendly and hospitable; whenever I walk past the UCC, I have to grab some food from here.
