My husband is at this place.
I was reading a previous review and it prompted me to write my own. A lady said that the inmates shouldn't be cared for, something in that matter.
I want to speak on that. Some of these inmates made mistakes at a very young age 16, 17, 18 etc. They are paying for it with their entire lives. Honestly, I've done some dumb and stupid things in my life, I just wasn't the one that was caught. To say that these inmates shouldn't have rights, shouldn't be treated like human beings is very disrespectful, rude, and leads me to believe that you don't have an inmate you love and care about. Again some, and I mean most of these inmates have been locked up since they were minors, others just have been over sentenced, and Yes, their are the ones that should rot there for life..but for the husband that came to his door at 3am and a man had a gun threatening to kill him, he runs and retrieve his gun, shoots the man in the leg, and calls the police, not knowing the bullet in his leg will kill him. For the man that was no where near a crime and was wrongly accused of muder and even after years of evidence surface that shows he did not do the crime, but isn't able to get back into court, and have to sit in for 50 years. For those inmates, my heart goes out too...and yes, they matter. Yes, they have rights, should be heard and deserve more than what the prison system is offering them.
To make statements about inmates is hurtful, wrong, and unthoughtful. Yes, their are scums, murderers, and slum bags, but their is a fact that 5 out of 9 inmates are either wrongfully accused or over punished. Now, before statements are made that they shouldn't be cared for or thought of, let's remember the 5 out of 9.
As far as the workers, I agree. Their over worked and not appreciated. A lot of changes need to be made in the prison system period. Workers shouldn't feel threatened. They should feel safe. Their should be harsher punishments for inmates that harass, humiliate, threaten and intimidate workers. Also workers must remember this is just their job. Being hateful towards inmates, or judging them, isn't what they should do. Treat them accordingly. If they give you respect don't be cruel to them or treat them like trash.
As far as the Warden. I think he's gonna do a great job. If he takes time to listen to each inmate, and staff members and family members, he can make the right changes.
Prison isn't designed to just lock men up and throw them away, it's to council, help, and guide them into rehabilitation. So that they can enter the world and make a difference

Very low employee morale. Exhausting long hours beyond the 12 hour shift. Inmates allowed to use severe vulgarity and threatening behavior with no repercussion. The simplest of directives ignored. Employees publicly reprimanded in front of peers and the employment culture places all of the responsibility on the officers with little expected of inmates. The low morale is palpable and is the reason for leaving 95% of the time. Inmates' excuses for even the most disturbing behavior is accepted and the officer absorbs the blame for not "properly interacting and communicating with an inmate." This is the lowest employee morale experienced.

Great place! Bring the whole family! They have activities for the kids. The food is A1. Forget Disney Land! This is where you need to plan your next vacation.
(There is a small chance of getting stabbed and never give someone your "Jewney Cakes".)
