I planned my day around having lunch here, so I was not pleased when the chicken Madras, which the menu describes as breast meat, was half dark meat. Had I known, I would have ordered something else. When "dessert" came I couldn't help smiling. One lonely gulab jamun ball sat in the dish, which I cut it into several pieces to soak up the syrup. I was the only customer, so maybe they're trying to cut down on expenses at lunchtime. I've eaten here several times and this was the first time I was disappointed.
Lovely experience after a long day in DC. I went to the restaurant not expecting much after few bad experiences I had with Indian restaurants in Austin last week. I requested the gentleman Augustine if I remember the name correctly, he spoke Bangali to get the curry without tomatoes, spicy taste. Curry came out exactly as I had requested, garlic naan and rice were also equally good which made my day. Chicken pieces were delicious and well cooked. On top of all this I made one more request for traditional Chai Indian tea which Augustine got made with a smile. I noticed that all the guys working were very pleasing and made every effort to satisfy customers. Excellent customer service guys, will definitely visit again soon.
Everything was excellent: lamb was tender and flavorful, mango lassis were great, veggie samosas are the best. The service was attentive and ambiance set a perfect mood.
Only one word is needed to describe this restaurant. AMAZING!!! The waiter was nice and sociable, we had a lovely conversation, before the restaurant was busy. It felt like home. The food was crazy good! A little spicy even though we ordered was 4 out of 5, spice. So i would recommend going a level lower than what you think you can handle. As our waiter said, you can always add more spice but you can't take it back. Best of all it is literally right next to our hotel.
I've eaten here twice now since they opened and been very satisfied both times. Some of the best Indian I've had, especially compared to the other places here on P Street. The portions are very large and the service is fantastic. Glad to have a good Indian Restaurant right outside my front door again. GREAT for vegetarian tons of options and meat lovers both.
We dined here twice for dinner during our three night stay in Washington. The food was amazing. It was so flavorful and spicy, just right for our taste buds. The staff are very friendly. They gave our kids ice cream which was on the house for the two dine ins. We've never had Indian this tasty, even with the abundance of Indian restaurants in Toronto. Highly recommend this restaurant if you want to eat spicy and with a lot of flavors.
My wife and I were looking for an Indian style place to eat. We came across this place while searching near Dupont Circle in DC. The atmosphere is extremely relaxed and clean. The staff treat is with the utmost respect and had great insights into their own menu. I had my 9 month old son with me and they were extremely, accommodating to him and stroller. Food: definitely above average definitely can tell it's made with fresh ingredients and with care. The food was a little slow to arrive but given how relaxed the environment was I almost didn't even notice and it was definitely worth the wait. My wife ordered the lamb mango and I ordered the chicken masala and they were outstanding. The chicken was clearly cooked all the way through and still tender could easily cut with a fork and the sauces and spices were exactly what the waiter described. Absolutely worth every penny and I felt like I got a better experience here than I would have if I'd paid $25 a plate versus the $16 a plate I did pay.... if you want to relax environment with good value and an absolutely fantastic waitstaff please try this place.
Great little place. Friendly and competent services. Decent food at a reasonable place. My hot curry was a perfect spice level and my wife’s tandoori, although not authentic, was quite acceptable. Value for money, decent, quiet atmosphere and solid service.
They need to hire some more staff, at least over the weekend. We waited for 1 and half hour to get seated despite there being 10-12 tables available. I thought the wait time may be because we had not reserved the table, but then we met someone who was noticed to inside the restaurant waiting for 45 min from their original reservation time and another 45 min to get seated. The food was almost cold but good. Reasonably priced. Ambience is good, if cleanliness on nearby tables is maintained...
Great place with many variations of Indian food.
