Having read a few reviews from previous customers of Letter J., I realized that I am not the only one who has experienced an unwelcomed experience in this store. Upon entering, you immediately feel unwelcome. As a world traveler who has visited numerous luxury stores across the country. It was particularly poignant to experience such an event in your hometown. It is not clear if he is the owner of the business, but he appears in the promo pictures for the store's Instagram account. I was even asked by the gentleman what brought me to the area. It was as if Chelesea was some strange foreign country. Because of my skin color, I could not possibly reside in Chealsa. Before he asked me what brought me to the area. I had removed a calf skin tangerine jacket from the hanger. Immediately, he grabbed it and placed it on the counter. In my role as a blogger and content creator, I ensure that I am fair and only share true life experiences in my blogs. I felt that the treatment I received in Letter J this afternoon was unfair, poor customer service, and blatantly racist. If you identify as non-white, I would recommend that you do not patronize a business. A company that displays this type of racist behavior towards its customers. The statement that brought you to the area alone was racist. It is possible that I could have been a local checking out a new business in my neighborhood. It was important to me that I informed my many friends in the Chelsea area of my experience at the Letter J. I would like to advise the owners that not all non-white customers steal. In the same way as your white customers, we work and pay for our items. Any individual who wishes to be treated fairly and to have their equal human rights respected should refrain from shopping at this store and any other stores owned by this corporation.
Incredibly well curated store! Although technically menswear, much is unisex and much of it is constantly on my wish list. Jason, Kevin, Matthew and the rest of the staff are always helpful and knowledgeable. No wonder Letter J has been a Chelsea go to for 10 years!
A well curated store with excellent customer service. The selection on offer has obviously been well thought out and presented harmoniously in a vibrant area full of creative and industrious individuals. There aren’t many independent men’s boutiques in the city enjoying their tenth year, it’s a testament to their originality, graft and obvious love for what they do. Thank you Letter J.
If I could give 0 stars I would. I assumed the guy who was staring at us and making condescending comments the whole time while we were browsing would be the owner, but turns out he's just a lowly employee. We gladly took our money elsewhere.
I really wanted to buy something here a nd love the clothes, but I was put off by the employee who immediately stepped in front of the front door and watched us as we looked around as if we were going to steal something. Was an uncomfortable experience so we left.
Great clothes and better people. Merchandising is super interactive making it easy to find yourself a good look. These guys do it right.
I like the merchandise here. The clothing looks elevated and I can feel the quality of the fabric.
I went to their store and the owner looked at me up and down like I was just some poor kid. He was very unfriendly. I called to offer help advertise this place for free but he always says I should call back next week, and next week, and next week, and on an on. I mean, what? You could just say no, sir. Also, I understand that you're some high class diva, but at least try to be professional, greet your customers, and be friendly? Bleugh.
Great experience at Letter J. Jason was really helpful, kind, and honest. He helped me make a great purchase and I love the quality. Very worth the stop in. I felt very good walking out and I would certainly shop again.
Letter J is the most interesting men's store I've ever come across. The owner chooses his merchandise very carefully from sources in the US, Italy, France, and elsewhere and brings in new items and styles every season.
