Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool

"A landmark certainly worth seeing!" is, perhaps, what I had hoped to feel. However, during each of my visits that were spread out between years, countless ducks make home to this huge body of water. Littered with algae, grime, and droppings, the pool is made home by animals--degrading its beauty and symbolism. I know that this isn't a problem year-round, but it's something that does have to be acknowledged. More attention should be given to keep the capital's high-standing tourist attractions clean and preserved.

Sometimes the reflecting pool is a more stunning view than the Lincoln Memorial itself. It's a great walk -- don't skip the walk by just taxiing to the Memorial! Lots of times you'll find ducks or even ducklings in the water. At night, the reflections really are fantastic.

The reflecting pool is a really serene and calm pool that extends from the Vietnam war vet memorial all the way to the Lincoln memorial. There are benches along the way that you can sit down and ponder as well as many steps near the Lincoln memorial that you could sit down on. It is probably about a 10 minute walk from end-to-end

This is a must visit... Probably several times to experience it in different lights. It's an iconic spot and both reflects the beauty of Washington DC and invites you to reflect on our nation, and all that it's taken to build it to the country we call home today.

Everything in this area was VERY impressive and memorable. We enjoyed our time in DC but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you spend the money and rent bikes!! It saves your feet and your body!!
