I am from out of town and they were very welcoming for a sit. If you are new to Buddhism, expect sitting and chanting (mostly English, they have a script). You don't have to believe every word or even be a Buddhist (you can be a Christian), but just read and consider it poetry. The key if you are a beginner is to say that when you come in. "I'm Jennifer and I'm new to Buddhism, is that ok?" And they will be extra warm to you. (If they don't know, they may not guess it or ask because people may be sensitive to the question).
