Tops the list of my favorite neighborhood bars in the Marigny. Atmosphere is usually faily chill and chatty on the part of the locals and regulars, though it can get pretty roqdy during soccer matching and Saints games obviously. Sunday nights people will gather to catch the latest episode of current shows, and that can get a bit crowded and load as well. Decent drink prices and some lovely Vietnamese food in the back kitchen--the tamarind tofu is a MUST TRY for all veggies!
I've been in funky bars across the USA. I was here during the day and I still had an awesome time. The bartender that day was Jason and he was friendly, cool, and played awesome music for chilling, hanging, and dancing. Food with simple bar food but also: good!
They put on good shows weekly with plenty of entertainment. You will never be disappointed. The beer is cold and the staff is always friendly. The mixed drinks are reasonably priced. And the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Now the food has taken a turn. It's not as authentic as it once was. No one wants to eat cool phó.
As dive bars go, this is exactly what you want. The bartender was a friendly, cool woman who played great music and had fun interactions with everybody in the bar area. The food from the adjacent room is Mexican not Vietnamese as was posted but still good and seems to be all homemade. Good prices, food and service all around.
I didn't like the chicken pho I got. There was no flavor to the chicken, and the only flavor to the broth was cinnamon which was weird. I ordered it to go and when I got home discovered a dead roach with my green onions. Definitely never gonna eat here again. The bar seems cool though.
My friend loved this place. He said the spice was right and he was excited about the ginger root in his raw beef phô. I on the other hand was take or leave it. Nothing impressive. Not bad , but not blown over. But I'm not a huge noodle soup fan. So, it would have taken a lot to impress me. The three is also, because the food is overpriced. I paid $11 for beef noodle soup in the back of a grudgy bar. I just don't see the value in that. Big ups to the Black girl taking orders. She was friendly, considerate and attentive.
I am glad others are feeling this way as well and it's not just me. New ownership has taken the bar service up a notch yay but the real reason why a lot of people went here pho, etc., has gone downhill fast. Like other reviews, the prices have gone up while the quality flavor, amount has gone way down. Hopefully someone who works there actually reads these reviews and changes back to the way the food was prepared. Very disappointing. Just because you improve in one area doesn't mean you should ignore another.
I've been living in Vietnam and I know Vietnamese food very well. In general the taste of the food is good. BUT: The food would taste much better if it was not that that spicy. Vietnamese food is not spicy! Keep that in mind. Dumplings too spicy, bun too as well. Please change that and offer extra chilli instead.
This is a great spot. Sort of a local bar but on a thoroughfare where some out of towners may come in. Incredibly friendly staff. Good food. Karaoke tonight! We had a small school reunion there and it was perfect.
Love this bar. It has great vibes and great priced drinks.
