Overall not too bad but not great. Make sure you pay attention your monthly bill. In our experience they overcharged us for renters insurance during our whole leasing period. I found out about it during our last payment. We sent the renters insurance to them before moving in and even pulled up the email day and time it was sent. They refunded only for two-three months even though the error was on them. I had to put a edit in because we already reached out to them prior to the comment below. They only refunded 3 months out of a 14 month lease.
I lived here for a year and a half, and in that time I became disappointed with both city life and my experience here. The move in process was easy, and maintenance was always on top of any service order request I put in, which is why I will give them a better rating than my boyfriend had put previously. However, within 2 months, the catalytic converter on my boyfriends company van was stolen. I heard another was stolen from another resident on the same night. Not a fault of the apartment, as they aren't the ones stealing. However, the fact that later our car got stolen, I saw multiple windows smashed by thieves and vandals, the visitor parking lot is littered with broken glass from smashed windows.. it just made me wonder why nothing was ever done to up the security. They claim they can't put cameras in the parking lots because of a law about recording residents, but I'm not sure that's true. My boyfriend has worked in security installation and has done jobs similar to what they could do here. Even if they didn't want to do that, how about some night security? Just something, anything, to help their residents and their property stay safe. It's just crazy that even just 2 weeks prior to our move out, another car window was smashed! We still have not recovered our truck, btw. The other issue here is that if you don't buy their renters insurance through them and instead do it via insurance outside of theirs like bundling with your car insurance they will harass you over and over and over again. I don't know how many times we had to deal with this issue, even having to go down AGAIN 5 days before our lease was up and we were busy packing. Whatever system they have in place is just awful for keeping everyone's policies on record, or they are paid commission or something from the insurance company they want you to use. Like I said, the entire time I lived here, it wasn't all terrible but these things really brought my experience down. And where I think we paid too much to live here, I think everyone pays too much to live in any bloated, overrated city. Edited to lower score because of the dismissive response from the "owner." I'm not the only resident or former resident to express the same concerns.
Management has been wonderful in my experience here. From the original GM when I first moved to the current GM who raised the bar even higher. Would definitely recommend.
The leasing manager, Renee, has been nothing but great my entire stay here at MStation. This place is good “starter apartment” for anyone new to the area. Since our move in last year, there has been an increased issue with break-ins in cars, homeliness population sitting in the stair wells, and high school students smoking in the guest lots and in the stair wells. They did start implementing a patrol car who drives around occasionally and that has seemed to help. I’ve only had one occasion where two high schoolers were sitting in FRONT of my apartment about 6 months ago but they haven’t been back since. Again, I know some of these things the apartment complex can’t control but the area is just going down hill. Again, great starter apartment for one person, but safety can be concerning.
I was a resident at M Station Apartments from 2018-2023, a 5-year period. At the beginning of our time here, we loved the apartments, the rent prices and yearly increases were more than fair, the building manager Marcus went absolutely above and beyond for the residents, and we recommended everyone we knew to rent here. Unfortunately, over that 5-year period the management changed, we fell out of love with the complex until, at the end, it was pretty much impossible to continue living there. A few things you should be aware of if you're contemplating moving here: Maintenance/General Condition: Chris, the maintenance man, is incredible and very friendly. Unfortunately, he can't handle all the issues by himself and as a result the condition of the buildings is often very suspect. The elevators are the most important example, and in our last month in the building, the elevators were down for well over two weeks, which caused us to be unable to move out timely as none of the moving companies we contacted would move our fourth floor apartment without the elevator a reasonable position. The leasing office told me "Elevators are a luxury, not a guarantee" and charged me for the additional days caused by the elevator delay. There are elderly, disabled people on the fourth floor we spoke to who literally were unable to get food or leave the building for weeks due to the elevators. I wonder if they consider it a "luxury" or a necessity? Additionally, the pools are constantly down, the package room is closed, and overall things have really gone downhill since we came here years ago. Lease Terms: Be very sure you read your lease carefully. They no longer include a provision for a lease buy-out agreement ahead of time, citing that's due to "compliance policy." What that means in practice is that they can charge you any buy-out fee they want if you have to break your lease early, and you have no way of knowing until it happens. They will attempt to find someone else to lease your apartment to mitigate that, but if they don't find another renter, you may well be stuck paying whatever fee they decide to charge at the time of this review it's 2-months rent, a departure from the one-months rent they charged from 2018-2022. Security: My roommate was robbed at gunpoint in the neighboring alley in 2019. Obviously the building can't be held accountable for that, but you should know going in that the area as a whole is not the best. During the school-year, there are constantly teenagers jumping the fence to the pool, who constantly harassed my wife and neighbors, and loitering in the apartment hallways. Car break-ins in the parking lot are also frequent. M Station will give you the number for a "courtesy officer," but every time I tried to call the number he told me "Who is this, how did you get this number?" And then hung up. I was of two minds about writing this review because, in the beginning, we absolutely loved M Station and in fact were going to continue living there while we were in Charlotte, but you as a prospective renter deserve to have some context about the building. I wouldn't recommend you rent here the way it's managed currently, and I hope Greystar will take steps to make improvements to the management of the building.
I absolutely love M Station apartments. I had such a wonderful experience with the property manager Renee during my visit! She was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, resourceful and passionate about M Station and ultimately helped me make the decision to move there! This is such a wonderful community to be apart of.
Everyone who works here is very nice . Good neighbourhood, I've never had a problem with anyone. Everyone is very communicative, very clean pool, everything very clean
Beautiful layout, and great amenities! My tour was with Renee. She was very welcoming. I could tell that she really cared about the residents. She answered all of my questions, and addressed my concerns without making me feel rushed. I am looking forward to my move-in date!
I've been a resident at M Station for several years and absolutely love living here! The location is perfect and provides easy access to the city and neighboring suburbs. The office staff is very responsive and extremely helpful, especially Renee and Chris - they are actually a major part of the reason I've remained resident. If you're looking for your next home, M Station is the perfect place!
