Place is packed. The manager was horrible shouting at customers across the store, following and profiling people she doesn't like. Prices are higher than they should be for drinks and dollar store stuff.
OK corner store. Lots of beggars. Good, low-cost usual stuff. Not a lot of laughing here. It is OK for those that happen to be close by.
This business is closed after a major building fire on October 17, 2019. Judging from the extent of the damage reported on TV, it will be some time before they reopen. For those interested in the store - if they do reopen, I wrote the following review in 2018 : Sunday is a good day to visit this store if you are driving. Downtown parking is free and there are no traffic hassles. If you use MetroRail, the Main St. Square stop is in front of the store. I've been patronizing this store for six years. It's a good place for cleaning supplies, household tools & accessories, dishes, insecticides, reading glasses, sun glasses, light s, candy, tobacco, etc. They recently increased most prices to $1.39. As the name suggests, the store is located on Main Street Square. At times, this area draws numerous panhandlers that constantly hit people up for money. That can be annoying and sometimes not safe.
I have never had a bad experience at this store until 3/7/17. The black lady that usually works days, loud lady tried to rip me off today. She took 2-$5's for my purchase. My total was $6.56, my change should have been $3.44. She only gave me $1.44 back. I told her that she didn't give me all my change, and waited for my $. She looked at me like I was crazy as she opened her register. She took out one dollar and threw it on the counter. I wasn't moving until I had my correct change. She was still holding my .44 in her hand when she ripped out the last dollar and threw my change on the counter. She is loud, obnoxious, and a thief!!!!!!!! Watch yourself, and your money in that store. I have NEVER had a problem with the men that work there, but that lady is trouble!
Almost every item in the store is 1.29 or less, and they for sure have some good deals on a lot of the items, which retail for more at other places. That being said, if you purchase an item in here that can expire, check the expiration date! I bough mouthwash once that was expired for literally a whole year, and I've bought beef jerky that was expired about a month or so from here too. Since then, I've checked for expiration dates, and have no complaints!
Interesting shoppe filled to the brim with everything but the kitchen sink. They have Goode hair items, 40oz adult beverages, tobacco products, name brand candy, seasonal decor, hammers, spray paint and gift packaging all at less than $2. There are some items priced higher but most of the items are not. Stays busy, small store, takes cash or card, lots of employees to help with questions.
On Tuesday July 39..I raced downtown to get to the store before they closed. I was so happy that the train was on time until I got to the store at 10:40 and it was CLOSED. I watched people walking away as I was walking up but still went to the door. Yes... Closed early to mop . 20 minutes early is so rude and unacceptable without a good reason...or even a reason at all. As i still stand here outside the store writing this, the security just left. It is 10:50 pm. Really?
Love the workers! I feel like family when I’m there. The items they sell are priced well. I go to other stores and always remember I can get the same item for less at Main Street Market.
I shop here often. They have good things at even better prices. Why pay $3.79 for a bag of Gerridelli chocolates when you can get them for $1.19! The cashiers are pleasant. Just one is sometimes a bit grumpy.
Its a corner dollar store actually $1.27 I think with a few items marked higher which has been in the same spot for well over 10 yrs. Some of the folks who come in are a little ruff but for the most part, no problems. The store is ALWAYS well stocked and clean. The workers are helpful, really, and quite cheerful year round and like many other larger stores they increase the workers depending on time of year traffic to keep every thing safe and orderly. There is a CVS close by and eating, loft living, and office work places all around. Sporting arenas are just a few steps away as well as Discovery Green, the Park Shops shopping mall and many reasonable price hotels for the area. It's a great place to pick up a few items if you find $stores good shopping as I do.
