The providers here are incompetent, ruthless and enjoy playing God with people's mental and physical health. They will take you off controlled substances COLD TURKEY because their goal is to get everyone off them as fast as possible without regard to patient wellbeing or safety. I had to step down from the job I had just started due to the withdrawals and am now disabling sick. My provider told me the risk of me being permanently disabled was a risk he would rather take rather than starting me on a lowest dose of the benzodiazepine I was prescribed for almost 7 years so that I can go back to work, citing "cognitive decline". I'm pretty sure not being able to sleep 2-3 nights a week, having debilitating panic attacks, and having cyclic vomiting episodes to the point I lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks going to cause more cognitive decline dude. It already has. I also made it clear to my provider that I did not want antipsychotics as part of my treatment plan due to severe debilitating side effects, and he offered them to me multiple times. Maine wonders why they still have such a big drug problem. It's because of unsafe practices like these.
Love my psych, but I have been saying my meds aren't working for the past year and all I've been told is that we're gonna increase the dose.... Edit: Got a different psychiatrist. Hopefully everything goes well.
I’ve been going here for years. I used to not have many issues with them. But it is a community mental health service, they’re burnt out and understaffed ALWAYS. I’ve had a lot of issues getting people to answer the phone- for example it’s 20 mins before close and the phone automatically says sorry we’re closed and hangs up. I had them put in I need an urgent appointment and have been waiting all day for a psych to call me because I’m having a very serious issue. Now it’s past close and I can’t get in touch with anyone and I could of gone to urgent care or something if they couldn’t help me today. I’m feeling kinda let down by then lately. Additionally I had a therapist though them. I missed one appointment and the next she was sick. They marked that as me missing 2 appointments and told me I had been discharged and gave me a list of other therapists. An AWFUL thing to do to someone with abandonment issues. I want to like them but they make it hard.
I have been a patient for over two years for medication management. Sometimes it is hard to get through on the phone, but I find that to be largely true with most health facilities. I feel very comfortable and heard. The office staff is really nice. My provider is just awesome. The management I feel is handled Quite well, I really don’t have anything negative to say about the providers or treatment. I prefer Maine Behavioural over other Mental health agencies by far. Thanks!
Won't answer the phone, won't return phone calls to make an appointment even IF you can get to voice mail, even though established patient. Tosses any old therapist at anyone, and won't transfer when asked. DO NOT RECOMMEND. If you're looking for help with mental health, they'll make it worse in my opinion. Maine Medical Center says they don't know who runs the place even though it's THEIR system. The whole system is broken. Stay healthy folks, not a lot of help out there. Edit: I'm noticing MBH responds to these reviews if they're positive. No response if the review is negative. Unfortunately this is the way they deal. Shameful.
My experience about 3 years back was excellent. I would have come undone without them. My same problem has escalleted into a fullblown trigger sending me running back for help. I have been trying to get through to someone for over a year to no avail. It seems all MEDICAL org. are impossible to get good customer service on the phone. There seems to be a comunication breakdown that does little to assure a clients access to their provider. Less frustration if the information given when the call is taken. "We are unable to accept new clients at this time..If you are a current patient press or say your client ID" Anything is better than clinging to hope to no avail.
Was referred here after my psychiatrist left my PCP office. The first visit the intake woman asked If I hit my child, who asks that!? Well I got cancelled on THREE times before I finally got in again, found out this rude doctor is trying to give me a NEW diagnoses I’ve been seen by many psychiatrist for 11 years she is misdiagnosing based on an hour conversation and didn’t even ask any questions about the issues I am already diagnosed with. The woman I saw after her was nice but told me a medication I’ve been on for a year they would want to reduce by 3 times less if they took over the prescription from my PCP. This place is awful I am searching online for a different psychiatrist.
I would recommend MBH, mental health isn't easy for many and easy to get upset with the wrong people. I've read in marketing that people are much more likely to leave reviews when unhappy. I feel strongly MBH is well above its current google rating of 2.3 stars. For every horror story you read about on here, there are probably 20 good stories that never write a review
They make you wait 10-20 minutes to be seen but will turn you away if you are past 10 minutes late.
Incompetent staff makes it a nightmare to try and receive treatment. It is sad how even accessing mental health support you deal with this. Do you train your staff? . Months later that is still the case. Nobody is in their office answering phones. The amount of stress and anxiety the THIS PLACE CAUSES in trying to access care is shameful. .
