We visited Maize for the second time recently. It is sort of becoming a habit before seeing a show at NJPAC, which is right across the street. The restaurant is in the Robert Treat hotel, so you can conveniently park in the Military Park Garage, walk upstairs for dinner, then walk across the street for the show.
The restaurant has a new name- Medallion I believe. We ate at the bar. The staff was lovely and attentive. I had the grilled tilapia and shrimp over mashed potatoes. My friend had the shrimp coctail and cheesy fries. All delicious. We asked to speak with the chef because we were trying to figure out some of the ingredients because it was THAT good. She came out. Had a nice time discussing the food. I highly recommend this place. We went on a Friday night. I would absolutely go here again
Lunch...Very well done! Good food & service, nice atmosphere, reasonable prices. Quiet for conversation either business or personal. I will be back for dinner sometime soon.
The food and service was excellent.
Third class service. I waited one hour before the waiter took my order. May be the place is not that brown friendly, since I witnessed the favoritism. There’s something seriously wrong with humanity.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: No
The food was terrible! It was not hot and the prime rib was not tender at all. The food seem to be leftover, to be an elegant restaurant and it the price we paid we should have had hot food. And mention it to the server he said it was not his problem. I work for retail company and we are encourage to make sure our customer is happy, and we was not happy at all. So please think twice before you go there.
My daughter absolutely loved her ceasar salad with grilled chicken and I ordered the mussels..both were good but overpriced for what they were. Staff was nice but not very friendly. The ambiance is nice and very romantic. Ordered the Tiramisu and it to an extremely long time to get to the table. It had a nice presentation but was hands down the worst Ive ever tasted and still partially frozen. I personally was not impressed and would not go back.
Beautiful atmosphere great food and friendly staff
Food was delicious. The restaurant was extremely busy due to all the people stuck in Newark because of the snow gridlock today but they responded beautifully and welcomed our group of 11. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Although better to get bottled water than what tasted like unfiltered tap water.
Came down from my hotel room for a quick drink. Was only planning on staying a couple minutes. When I asked for the bill the bartender proceeded to call over the entire staff to make a federal case out of me asking for the bill. Afterwards, I watched them kick every customer out of their restaurant roughly 40 people for not buying enough. From what I could see, they all had a drink in their hands. I didn't realize this place had a minimum spending limit just to be there. Snobbish and incredibly rude staff plus overpriced drinks makes this restaurant the definition of hell on earth. Avoid this place like the plague. They'll treat you like dirt if you're not a billionaire that they can steal from. Truly despicable.
