Extremely happy that my time living here is over. Here is a brief summary of all the reasons that this property should be AVOIDED. 1. Maintenance is virtually nonexistent. I have been here for two years and have 5+ open work orders that have never been closed. Emergency maintenance is just an outside service that creates work orders for you something that you can just do online yourself… which will get ignored because they don’t ever look at it. My air conditioning went out in the middle of a 90 degree summer and was never fixed. We had a ceiling leak in our apartment from November to June when we moved out that was also never fixed and caused water damage and mold growth in the kitchen and closet. Management did not address the mold whatsoever. 2. Almost every building has an outside door knob that is non-functional. Squatters have been seen multiple times in my building and on the property even though management is fully aware of the problem. 3. It is extremely difficult to contact the office. Your phone-call is directed to emergency maintenance after it rings several times in the office; there is no option for voicemail. They claim to be open on the weekends but they are NOT. On multiple occasions I have called once every hour of the day and no answer. 4. They are terrible at keeping any kind of documentation. They have lost both my lease and my lease renewal agreement. Their online portal is also flawed not something you want when it relates to your money/payments. 5. There were minor issues with the apartment from the day we moved in. Minor issues are not that big of a deal, but it took months of emailing to get them fixed. 6. Pests are probably unavoidable for the most part being in a city and an older building. But there are mice, cockroaches, centipedes. Thankful that I had cats. 7. Management does not communicate information to its residence. In the middle of winter when the gas company needed to turn our heat off, management knew that it was happening and did not let us know – the only way we found out is because we called the office to get more information even after calling we had to go down to the office and speak to someone to get the full story. The only positive thing about this property is that you get a parking space.
UNSAFE & UNHEALTHY LIVING CONDITIONS. there is a reason they do not show you actual units before move-in. we did not even spend a night in our apartment because of a massive roach infestation only SOME of the pictures are posted here. they also moved us into a unit with one dial on our stove and no fire alarm? it was so bad that they actually let us move out without fee, said they would get us back our deposits in 30 days, only for it to take 90 days. the financial and personal burden that this apartment has caused was really horrible - and the head manager was incredibly insensitive and rude about the whole experience. PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT MOVE HERE. we are still on an email list for some reason and have seen that they had a main water pipe burst recently. also the pool is not and has not been functional for years so don't let them tell you that's a thing.
My daughter has no complaints. She just recently moved here. Any issues that needed to be addressed always get addressed in a timely fashion. Her apartment is really nice!! The property manager was very nice when I met her
This complex is disgusting, maintenance is non existent & management is extremely unprofessional. We moved in & were unable to spend even one night here bc of the unlivable conditions. As soon as we finished unpacking we discovered the place was absolutely roach infested. Attaching some examples of hundreds of roaches found on every surface in the apartment. It took days to get in contact w anyone in management. We have documentation they would refund us quickly, only to be told one point after months of waiting they lost our deposit. We were practically made homeless & were met w no response or hostility. We lost thousands of dollars in missed wages, storage & extermination costs. It took literal months to rid our belongings of roaches from the singular day we lived here. Avoid this place at all cost
I lived here in 97-99 when they were transitioning African American people out by raising the rent to discourage Us from renewing the lease. It was actually well maintained and the washers were only 1.25 and 1.00 for 40 minutes. Management has ruined the reputation over the years. apparently the units haven't been modified from the 90s era as a few of my family members have moved there on my advice and left unsatisfied remarking the place is now a dump. That's a shame... it was always ugly on the outside but they used to be nice and well maintained on the inside.
This place is an absolute dump and management doesn’t care to do anything at all. Heat broken on the coldest day of the year, no one will answer the phone! “Emergency maintenance” phone line is really just a person that puts in a maintenance request for you. The office is not open on Saturdays, even though online says they are and management will try to tell you they are. Management will yell at you for calling the city to get things done that they refuse to take care of. Mice are abundant and management ignores requests for pest control. Laundry costs an arm and a leg, the laundry card reload machines were stolen two months ago and have yet to be replaced. The solution? Order a laundry card online with an additional $5 fee each time and wait a week for it to come in the mail. Management doesn’t keep records of anything and never know what’s going on, for example, when leases have been renewed and under what terms. Parking lot is pitch black at night despite asking for lights to be turned on. Apartments themselves are patched together poorly, very old, poorly insulated thus expensive gas heating bill. There is zero communication with residents from management in any degree. The pool they boast having as an amenity is non-functional. The dumpsters are irregularly emptied and usually have another 2 dumpsters worth of garbage and furniture scattered around the dumpster that ends up blowing all over the parking lot. This place is terrible, not worth the price, space, or honestly even the parking spots. Would never recommend this place to anyone and cannot wait to leave here.
Ok no one is working at the maintenance office. I visited the office several times today but no one is here !! No one picks up the phone and of course no replies to my emails . How can i communicate with ??? I need a real number to talk to someone.
I have lived here for 11.5 months. I have had some problems but management has always fixed them in timely manner. I like that I share the entrance to my apartment with only 3 other apartments and all my neighbors are great people. Love my private patio. Utilities are cheap on a monthly basis.
I'm a current resident of Manayunk Garden Apartments and love it! The property manager John is very responsive and transparent with communication. Apartments come as advertised - an absolute steal for living in Manayunk. They recently renovated the laundry facilities which are now all the easier to use, and it's hard to beat a guaranteed off-street parking spot in this town. To frame my review with context, I had to make a quick-decision move from Pittsburgh, and this place was a fantastic landing spot that made me feel at home, away from home!
The only plus is it's cheap and a decent location which is essentially anywhere in Manayunk. Over my one year lease we had mice and bugs, AC broke 2-3 times, sliding doors fall off, rusted railings, chipped paint, a completely broken washing machine, multiple gas leaks, pipes burst, ceiling leaked 4 seperate times, the pool never opened for no given reason, door locks fail, both sinks drip since move in, one sink wouldn't drain since move in. With all these issues a maintenance request can take up to 2-3 weeks to get addressed if they even show up. The floor model they show is never available and the only apartments they actually have available and shown to you via misleading photos on the Property Manager's computer upon visiting. Save yourself the hassle and stress and read the Google reviews. Sadly they're all true. I found out the hard way.
