Margaret W. Carpenter Recreation Center

The staff and the facilities here are great, they offer childcare at a reasonable rate and I have an all-around good experience at this Recreation Center. There was an amazing park behind the recreation center and the facilities inside are impeccably kept, and fairly priced, even if you're not a resident. The swimming area has slides and a lazy river, and plenty of lifeguards to keep you safe. There is a family changing room, and they have great exercise equipment, a steam room, and a basketball court.

This place is amazing for residence and non residence of Thornton. They have a great facility with many things to do. They also have classes for adults and children. Their swim classes are cheap and great for the kids. The instructors are fantastic!

A great place for the social minded non-athlete to the hard core workout person. It all starts with the incredibly helpful and professional staff at the desk. Talk to them if you are new. The people throughout the facility are 99% helpful and friendly so don't be afraid to ask how to use a machine or to show you where the indoor walking / jogging track is or how to get the the pool/lazy stream/hot tub or water slide. All the classes are FREE and again let people know you are new and you will get great help from the others in the class as well as the instructor. It won't be long before you have friends here and want to come often

This place opened when I was a kid, and it is still as solid as I remember it from almost 20 years ago. It probably is about time for it to have an update, but we love that there is something for all ages here. The wave pool is zero entry so babies can play in the shallow water, big kids can grab a tube and go deeper and adults can go really deep. There is a diving board, which is awesome. The area for little kiddos is great also, although I miss the giant floating frog and fish that used to be there. There is also a lazy river and a large slide. It is always busy, but not too crowded.

It's a very nice recreation center with a nice wave pool. It's a great value for the non resident price of 4 bucks.
