Love volunteering here. The young lady that gives the volunteers their instructions is friendly and energetic. The chefs I have worked with are friendly and the gentleman who runs the outfitters part is friendly. However, the women who sit at the desk upon entering the facility and the mgr at outfitters are not very friendly.
HORRIBLE!!!!! the manager on duty today was shameful. Poor excuse for customer service. I came in today to shop. First I ask her questions and she seem like she had an attitude Everytime I asked. If you hate your job stay home!!!! And it showed today that she really hate her job. She wait til people stand in line for 20 minutes to tell them no debit card no change come with exact fare. Why not announce it sooner. About 6 people got outta line and left including myself. What kind of community treat people like that. She was rude, didn't care about hospitality and I will never ever ever donate or shop there again.
DONORS BEWARE!!! This place is highly suspected of being plundered by the employees. In turn, this leaves customers who keep Martha's going through purchases to select from things that aren't worth the high prices they place on them perhaps in order to justify what they are taking. When people donate their higher quality items, they will never hit the floor because what is happening is that the 14th Street store employees are believed to be taking these very high quality items. The store manager, a tall woman with dreads and who speaks like a baby with a lisp, and her sidekick who wears a long wig are quite rude, very rude. Often when something appears for sell and a person asks to purchase, the dreaded woman will say "This is mine!" Or other times, when they are ringing they will hold up the item, and if they really like the item based upon their facial expressions, they will say "This shouldn't be on the floor because it is the wrong price." Or other times, they are heard by many saying, "I didn't see this back there" or one will look at the other and say "Did you see this?" These two women obviously have no training in merchandising, however, they will randomly shout out whatever inflated number that comes to their head if they detect a quality item. They will price it so high as to deter the potential buyer. On one occasion, the manager was heard randomly shouting "80 dollars!" She looked at the item and just said "This is 80 dollars." The item was not worth 80 dollars new or old but this is the sort of thing that regularly happens with these unskilled employees. Donations are being made daily but customers are seeing the same tattered items day in and out even though Martha's receive donations from department stores and other local stores. Quality jewelry has stopped coming out altogether yet very fine pieces of jewelry and accessories are seen being worn by the two women spoken of here. Quality jewelry has always been abundant at Martha's but this jewelry isn't being set out for purchase anymore. The jewelry is normally sorted by the long-wigged woman. She is known to put on pieces while sorting and then utter, only because she is in front of customers, that she will pay for the item later. Really? The dreaded woman intimidates customers as well as the long-wigged woman. Many people who come in there have mental health issues and are referred to by agencies to seek out Martha's for resources. One can often find these two women arguing with those who are obviously challenged in some way. They argue with these people as though they don't have clearly challenging issues with which they are dealing. This is what happens when there are unskilled people being placed in positions to work with a diverse community. It is quite bad that a charitable organization is blocked from receiving all the revenue it should in order to provide for community resources because some employees are seemingly taking things and trying to make up for it by placing exorbitant prices on items that a department store wouldn't even charge on a clearance rack.
A social service/non profit organization that provides free clothes twice a month, food daily 4-4:30pm, food from their pantry once a month and from January through June free smarttrips monthly. Really awesome service!
We the Saints Of Thunder Motorcycle Ministry of Fort Foote Baptist Church had a wonderful time preparing food for 320 people.
Really amazing organization. They are extremely focused on helping those in need. Great volunteer opportunities.
I cooked food for the homeless that looked so good it made my mouth water. No experience required to volunteer.
If you are in need of emergency food and maybe some clothing you can get groceries and a full lunch is served in the back at 3pm daily. The grocery portion is monthly, the clothes are at thrift store prices without a Refferral.
Excellent place for many types of resources like clothing, food and child care plus many more.
What's a great place to go when you don't have any food and the food is excellent that they give me
