Horrible experience. I did a take out order and the food was jot what I expected. The potatoes were dry and lack cheese and sauce and the Mac and cheese was not what I asked for over the phone. Also packaged of the items could have been handle with more care. overall I am dissatisfied on how management handle this situation as I was told that take out food taste different due to having it boxed and brought home. That makes no sense as if I ate the food there and took my leftovers home it would taste the same as when I first ate it at the restaurant. Overall I will never come back to this establishment!!
I have been to Mason Street Grill a few times and each time I am very pleased with how my visit turns out. On my first visit Cesar was such an amazing server! He handled me with care and made the experience amazing. On 2 other visits I had the pleasure of being sat with Alanna who is super amazing. She even helped me to get the tomahawk steak which I really wanted. The manager Seth is great as well. He also made it possible for me to try the tomahawk steak. This was so great for me as I was in town visiting and do not know when I’ll be back. Oh, I also loved each and every steak that Steve made. The NY strip was tender, The dried aged ribeye steak was flavorful and juicy, the tomahawk was cooked to perfection, although a bit fatty, but my all time fave was the 10oz filet mignon. It was hands down one of the best filets I’ve had in my life. I want to come back and I hope I have the pleasure of enjoying another one of Steve’s well cooked steaks.
Staff was bad. Never removed the wine glasses or cleaned the table, brought us someone else’s appetizer and then took it back and gave it to another table without replacing it for them. The busser tried to take away my plate mid bite. The waiter made our drinks instead of the bartender and they were so sweet as to be almost undrinkable. Every time the waiter came he pushed us to order shots, which was not the vibe of the setting and despite us continuously declining. They forgot the sauce for my steak. I went here for my birthday and not only did they not bring me the cake, but i think they brought it to the wrong table. The quality of the steak was much worse than previously and the filet was sinewy. Cakes are now sheet cakes instead of layer cakes. Many of their best items have been removed from the menu. My family took me here because it was formerly their favorite restaurant. Not sure what has happened but it is greatly changed for the worse.
Dinner was really disappointing. They don’t have calamari and we opted for fried clams. This was chewy. We were told the Spinalis was a combination of beef tenderloin and rib eye steak which was terrible. It was tender HOWEVER it tasted like a flank steak AND it had a price tag of $85! What a rip off! We chose this restaurant to support and experience a local business. The carrot cake presentation was another disappointment. Go to Gibson’s in Chicago for presentation tips with their carrot cake. For real! The only good thing about this dining experience was the server and their cocktails. He was attentive, and provided excellent service. I’ll never eat at this place again.
Our most recent visit was for a late Christmas lunch in 2023. It was a wonderful experience. Great food, service and atmosphere. You should definitely try it. Great spot for holiday meals.Food: 5/5
From the moment we stepped into Mason Street Grill, we were enveloped in an atmosphere that was as inviting as it was elegant. The restaurant’s beautiful design set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience in the heart of Milwaukee. Our host, Thor, was the best at hospitality. He was attentive to our every need, curious about our preferences, informative about the menu, and engaging in conversation that enhanced our evening. His recommendations were spot-on, guiding us through a culinary journey that delighted our palates. Every dish we ordered was a testament to the kitchen’s skill and passion for flavor. Each bite was scrumptious, leaving us savoring the complex and perfectly balanced tastes. It’s rare to find a place that combines such a warm ambiance with culinary excellence, but Mason Street Grill does just that. First time in Milwaukee and I’m happy to share a meal at this place, with a friend. Thank you.
Food was ridiculous. Every bite was outstanding. Bloody Mary's best ever, will be what we compare to.Food: 5/5
Friendly team, good service, wonderful location near the theater district and close to all the attractions of the city …but unfortunately that’s all the good that can be said about the restaurant …and now about the food. The salads were fresh, nothing special the steak we ordered was served first cold and secondly dry ,simply inedible, completely tasteless, was kindly taken from our check friends ordered the duck, the duck was okay, but for some reason they threw it on top of French fries , the first time I’ve seen duck served like this, …but the biggest disappointment was the Baked Alaska dessert, which looks like real one , but taste like piece of ice it was simply frozen piece of cake directly from freezer, covered with toasted by torch meringue
Sat outside and nobody served us so we moved inside. We had the steak and fries, goat cheese ravioli, taretare, mushroom soup, and foie gras. The steak was so smokey flavored if it wasn't meat textured I'd think I was chewing on a piece of campfire wood. The ravioli was ok. Basil tasted fresh and the goat cheese was subtle. Overall pretty bland though. Also the plate was dirty and crusty Taretare was delicious but presented horribly. Looked like a smash patty on a plate. Mushroom soup tasted like it came from costco Foie gras was the worst. It looked like duckshit on a plate and tasted bitter and like poison.
Packed in very close to others, to where you can hear and they can hear each others conversation. The food was OK definitely not worth the 89 dollars I paid for my steak. Had to upgrade just to get a few mushrooms which was 18$ and there was very few. I even asked the waitress where the mushrooms were. She said that was it. Drinks were very weak, paying as much as they charge for a drink you should be able to at least taste it. Bread was hard and stale when brought out. Said something to the waitress again and said she would get a different basket. Brought out a new basket and all they did was swap out the top piece of bread which was warm and soft but the second one was still hard and stale. So they changed just one piece of bread. Brought it up to the waitress and she rolled her eyes and said she would change it again. Finally if I'm paying my hard earned money for a place that is supposed to be a very top notch restaurant, paying as much as it costed me things better be top notch.
