Mast Drafting & Design

I contacted Mast to do the drawings for a small addition to a 900 sq ft house. Within about 5 days we had met at the house, and Doug sent a proposal to me. I was fine with that, and I sent the required $300 deposit. After about 3 weeks, and some email reminders I sent, he said he had drawn the existing house and needed to come back to the house to verify a few things before working on the addition. We met at the house again, but he conveniently forgot to bring what he had completed so far. He said he would email them when he returned to his office. Since that day, 3 weeks in - never heard from anybody again. I emailed and called....never a return call; someone always told me he was "on the phone". I waited FIVE MONTHS without one word of communication and finally gave up. NO drawings, and they kept my $300!!!! Disgusting. DO NOT use this company.

My experience with Mast Drafting & Design was stellar. I was forewarned that the plans for my remodel would be in the 8-week range. Up front, ask for a timeline to be included, and there should be no problem or surprises. My plans PASSED easily, which I believe should count for something time-wise. I did get return phone calls/e-mails. But I didn't call that much. There was no need to do so. When I picked up the plans, Mr. Mast discussed them with me. Honestly? I felt like I was with a friend. It's a non-intimidating atmosphere. The cost, in my opinion, extremely low. I'm sorry about others' experiences. They may be accurate. Mine is as well. I am contacting him again today for another project - and looking forward to it. No stress. Just a pleasant experience where things get accomplished. Thank you Mast Drafting & Design!

Hard to deal with, poor in communication, expensive, shows little care for your time, not professional, i was very disappointed with the experience. The opposite of what you want working on your project. I would not consider him.

Run the other way! These people are not licensed. I have wasted 3 months waiting for this group to design an addition for my home. Whenever I would call, which is the only way to get in touch with these people because they NEVER called me, they were always busy "working on it." Working on a 1-room addition for 3 months? Of course, if called them and left a message, they NEVER returned my call. I have been lied to and disrespected. I have since spoken with others who say they were treated the same. STAY AWAY from Mast Drafting & Design.

Not recommended for drafting service. We used Mr. Mast's company for the plans for our first project and we were disappointed with several aspects of the way his company is run. We were directed to use his company for house plans through an engineering firm. Although the plans were accepted by Manatee county the experience wasn't a great one. Mr. Mast rarely returns phone calls or emails. His office phone often goes to voice mail. His poor office clerk when on duty simply doesn't have any pertinent information and takes a message but no one ever calls back. The other problem I have with Mr. Mast was the length of time to get the job done. It took months for a 20x40' 2 story house. On my second project I felt I should use Mr. Mast as he was the draftsman for the home. This time was even worse! We met in late February at Caddy's in Bradenton as I wanted to duplicate the roof they have at that restaurant on my home. Mr. Mast never bothered to get the job done despite my repeated phone calls and emails. Furthermore he had me get on a ladder with a tape measure and a level as he didn't bother to get all the correct measurements of the existing roof lines. 4 months later and still no finished drawing to submit for permits. If you are planning on using Mr. Mast put a contract together with a timeline based on penalty for being late. Would not recommend for drafting services.
