The steaks were cooked just right. Our waiter was polite and make our evening more enjoyable. The lobster mash potatoes had plenty of lobster meat; however, it was oily. If you like lemon drops then you should definitely try theirs because of the taste and presentation. The shrimp in the shrimp cocktail were huge. We had added crab meat to one of the steaks; however, we felt as though the restaurant could have included more meat relative to the cost of the dish but it was good. You can pay your bill using your phone. That was a nice touch no need to wait for someone to come back to you We plan on coming back.
I booked a table for a Birthday dinner for my man at this restaurant while I'm outside of US. My man had an amazing dinner there. He ordered the steak, lobsters dish, lobster soup & breads, wine for himself. At the end, The restaurant made a nice cake with "Happy Birthday" message for him. The food was so delicious and the services are very good. My man enjoyed it so much. We would love to come back in the future.
Came here for dinner on New Year’s Eve and was very impressed by the food and service. We ordered the clear lobster roll for our app which was great, highly recommended! For our main, we shared the porterhouse steak between 2 of us - it was cooked to perfection! Sides were sautéed asparagus and the gnocchi. We did have a hiccup with our gnocchi order - manager Steven rectified the issue and handled it with great care. Also the warm signature butter cake was phenomenal and is huge so perfect for sharing! Thank you so much for an amazing experience, looking forward to coming back!
This review is strictly for the waitress named Nicole. We would have given 5 stars if she did not taint our experience in the beginning. We were told by the hostess that she would be our “wonderful” waitress. She also came over to bring us menus and ask our water preference as if she was our waitress. However, for some odd reason the waiter was switched. When she was acting as our waitress, she was extremely short when answering our questions & seemed as though she did not want to be bothered. She also never introduced herself. We had to ask our new waiter for her name. There was absolutely nothing positive about her. It was as if she had pre judged us just because we were a table of young black women. Thankfully, our new waiter Phillip came over and saved the night. He was super welcoming and helpful. He answered all of our questions with a smile. His customer service was top tier! The drinks and food were also amazing! Thank you Phillip!
Definitely one of the best restaurants in DC. Went to Mastro's for my cousins birthday dinner, reserved the private room downstairscheck with the team for availability. We got there about an hour and a half before closing, yet they were very patient with us. The shrimp cocktail and Woodford Manhattan were excellent. Tried some of the other appetizers from the table and everything tested pretty well. For the main course I had the Rack of Lamb, didn't disappoint at all. Dessert was no different as well, the butter cake was the highlight for sure. Highly recommend!
My group of 6 had dinner here on our last night in D.C. It was odd that we had to pay for the “bread service” which is usually complimentary at other restaurants. My cocktail was a bit weak and not that flavorful, and my food came out cold and wrong. I ordered an appetizer crab cake to come out with my entree and a filet butterflied. My filet was not butterflied. Plus, they just sat a plain crab cake on top. When I sent it back, it came back warm, butterflied, but cooked past medium as requested. The crab cake was cold by now. I requested another and it took forever to come out. I was full by the time I got it. However, this time the crab cake came out as it should have the 1st time. It was plated with the accompanying items. For the price we paid, the experience was less than stellar and the way my food was handled was disappointing. Now on the the pros. We shared a variety of sides and they were all good but the lobster Mac & cheese stole the show. The warm butter cake was huge and delicious, and the musician playing the piano and singing was amazing! She had a beautiful voice and performed a wide variety of songs…it definitely added to our less than stellar dinner experience.
Our family ate here for New Year's Eve 2021 on our trip to D.C. We thoroughly enjoyed the food the atmosphere and the service. The Wagyu steak was definitely worth the money. The lobster mac n cheese and garlic mashed potatoes were great along with the Bacon and sau'teed shrimp appetizers. For desert definitely must try the warm butter cake. Wish we had a Mastro's closer to home. We will definitely go back!!
Wow! I had heard great things, and every bit as good as I had heard and then some; I went in to treat myself and ended up being treated! The atmosphere is a dim, upscale wood and leather look with a soft big band and jazz style in the background, though I sat at the bar to later hear the pianist. I was seated at a table right away by the manager and offered a few cocktails they were known for. I struggled to choose, so my server asked if I would like to try a take on two of the list items and I absolutely did. The drink took no time, which I'm not used to, and the pour was generous. India also accommodated my requests to stick to vegetarian options and offered a plate that was delicious and again, took very little time despite what appeared to be a full bar. I'll confess that I would have had many options were I able to eat steak, the tomahawk did seem to be calling my name! At least twice throughout the experience Stephen checked back on me to make sure I was enjoying my drink, food, and my time. As I considered going home, I really wasn't quite ready because I was able to appreciate staying there so I ordered a dessert to go, once again with India helped me pick one good to travel back to Baltimore, and ordered a red wine to soak in the last few minutes. I'll readily confess I haven't been to steakhouse in a while, let alone DC, but I can honestly say I can't wait to go back. The food, drinks, and atmosphere were absolutely above my expectations but the staff at Mastro's were so welcoming, attentive, and helpful, I cannot speak highly enough of my experience and hope you'll consider them.
We couldn’t have chosen a better establishment to celebrate our 3 year anniversary. From the food to the service, everything was exceptional. The service size of everything is huge! You could definitely share every course and spend half the money…or if your like us, we enjoy the left overs the best day .
The ambiance is loud, noisy and crowded. If you look for a quiet or romantic evening this is NOT the right place. The music in the background was more appropriate for sport bar than a upscale /fine dining restaurant. The food is not worth the asking price, it was just ok.
