Story

Matisse Restaurant offers modern French fare with a Mediterranean twist in a setting brimming with casual sophistication.
An airy wrought iron staircase draws the eye to the center of the restaurant while the stunning design collaboration of Thomas Pheasant and Evelyne Siegfried shines throughout.

The menu highlights the finest fresh fish and seafood, farm-raised organic, local, fresh ingredients, and seasonal specialties, all deliciously prepared.
Mediterranean touches can be felt throughout the menu.

Matisse offers several dining and private dining options.

The bar and cocktail tables are perfect for a pre-theatre bite, and can accommodate up to 22 guests for a happy hour gathering.

The bright and lively front dining room offers a bistro feeling with French doors that open to the Avenue.
The larger main floor dining room features an enchanting fireplace perfect for Washington, D.C winters.

For more intimate gatherings, a semi-private second floor dining room with French Doors opens to a terrace fit for pre-dinner standing cocktails; seats up to 17 guests.
The large private dining room on the second floor can accommodate up to 70 seated guests, and 120 for receptions.

For personal gatherings, proposals, and surprise celebrations let our chefs prepare a customized menu paired with exceptional wines. Your guests will dine at the heart of the restaurant; the wine-cellar, just steps away from the excitement of the kitchen.

For grand events and large celebrations the entire restaurant can accommodate up to 250 guests.

Street parking is available.
