Symphony Station is the hub of the arts district. The aged decay of this trolly stop is a sober reminder of a charmed past, the tales these tiles and tracks could tell. Just above to the surface brings music, dancing and fine food.
It gets you where you need to go or connect to. If it was not there we would all be in busses. That corridor of the MBTA gets quite busy due to students, musicians, hospitals, museums, and shopping. Having it there relieves a potential bottleneck like flow in that area and beyond. Although the station is beat-up, at least they try to keep it clean and open for commuters.
This is easily my favorite train station of all time, and I'll tell you why.... First of all, it starts with the letter 's'.... Same as sexy, sofa and socialism. All good things I hope we can agree. Second of all, the symphony represents mankind's ability to harness the vibrational potential of our known physical universe and express it in such a way as to be uplifting - remind us of our tiny stature which yet holds no constraints on our boundless imaginations and possibilities. Symphony train stop, I laud thee. I shall sing thy praises for all to hear. In the loftiest terms I recommend thee unto all who may make use of your smelly train cars and stairwells, so that they, too, may realize their fullest potential. That they too may in turn uplift others... THAT THEY MAY NEVER AGAIN SPEAK THE TERM 'SYMPHONY' WITHOUT FIGHTING BACK TEARS OF JOY, FULFILLED DREAMS AND A DEEPEST, PERSONAL ESTEEM FOR HAVING STOPPED AT.... SYMPHONY! SYMPHONY!! SYMPHONY!!!
For people not familiarized with the station you can asume you can enter from any of the entrances in the same crossing and you can go to heath or to lechmere, but the railways are not connected after you enter. In the heath direction entrance there are no signals specifying that is exclusively for heath st. direction
pretty oddly placed station can take a while to find the correct direction you are looking for if not familiar with the area be careful with the OUTBOUND side it is on BOTH sides of the street literally throwing you off thinking its on the opposite side its the same stairway but LOOKS different its not INBOUND is located a little bit past the hall itself front door about 40 feet away next to the Subway restaurant it is very confusing and a small station and the area around doesnt offer much unless head up to the Prudential center or Northeastern stop where the museum is not far off
Pretty standard T stop, obviously close to the symphony hall, but also walking distance from Newbury Street.
Beautiful station, pretty cool!
The station is named for the building next to this station.
I like this station.
