Clean, well-equipped lodging option where I have enjoyed stay, twice so far. Affordable. The owner, Theresa is always sooo friendly, kind, & gracious. She cares about detailed requests, & is amazingly helpful. Handicap-friendly apartments include convenience of location close to Johns Hopkins. I am very grateful for this wonderful short-term housing option.
The McElderry House Apartments provided our family with a warm welcome and comfortable accommodations during a stressful medical time for my family members. We were not sure how long we would need to stay due to a surgery and found that the owner/manager was very accommodating and friendly. She made our stay positive and we really appreciated her kindness and flexibility. The unit was clean and spacious and added to our positive experience at John Hopkins which was also one block away – perfect location. Thank you so much!
This is a really nice place, you are going to have a kitchen, fridge, coffee every day, Wi-Fi, dryer and washer all to share. The owner is kind but sometimes you are going to see her coming to the house at 11 o'clock so don't be scare. Remember that this place is in front of many hospitals so the ambulances pass every hour, the house will shake a little every time a big car pass. There is no big parking and please consider that Johns Hopkins hospitals have many free buses available for their patients...
I first became acquainted with McElderry housing in the summer of 2011. That time, I arrived to Baltimore from across the country and stayed for 3 months. Simply stated, it was a great relief to find a place so close to my Lab at the Medical campus. Additionally, the manager Theresa was very kind and organized. As for safety, there are 24/7 security guards around the entire perimeter surrounding the hospital including where McElderry houses are. Personally, I had no problems. But please be aware that in general Baltimore is not a safe city, and therefore you should be alert and careful at all times. Overall, I was very pleased with the reliability and service provided. Just recently in 2012, I came back for 5 months, and arranged to stay at the same accommodation. The house and furniture were not super fancy, but everything is clean and inclusive of all my needs. For example: I get a room for myself, bed, desk, shared bathroom, kitchen with utensils, refrigerator, washer/drier, etc. It was also very nice to have the entire house with Air conditioner during the hot summer! Most of the time, I shared the house with two other roommates. People come and go, depending on their activities at Hopkins. But Theresa is always careful to assign roommates with similar interests or backgrounds. I made very good friends with other students, RAs and Fellows. Besides being next to the Med campus, the houses are also close enough for me to run to Patterson park or the inner harbor. Alternatively, you can take the Green circulator free to Fells Point, and the Inner Harbor area. For grocery shopping, wholefoods and safeway are <2 miles away. There are plenty of zipcars, so often I would rent one to go shopping with my other roommates. ==== In summary, I would definitely recommend this place to any student/professional looking for a short term accommodation. It is just steps away from the hospital and research facilities. Reasonably priced. Friendly atmosphere, Reliable and excellent service.
Very nice. Very helpful in a time of need. I don't know what I would have done without the McElderry house. Although my loved one has passed, I will always remember the comfort received here.
Very dirty business condoms under bed Bedbrugs on sheets, hair in tub's,very unprofessional house keeping staff which were high off something. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. You better off at a motel 6
Staying for bone marrow transplant. Its expensive but worth it due to being within walking distance of Johns Hopkins. I would not wonder out at night though.
Affordable, convenient, nice owner and staff
Clean, friendly, reasonable price.
Great. Glad I found this place
