I have been searching for the perfect Pho for years, one to rival my favorite place in Seattle. MeKha Grill is small and unpretentious, but full of surprises. When you walk in the door, you're greeted by the owner with a welcoming smile and classical music playing over the speakers. Yep. Totally unexpected to hear classical, but the owner likes it. The menu lists a vegetarian Pho at the top, and it was delicious. Anywhere can cook Pho, but there is magic when the broth is perfectly balanced. I visited with family, each of us ordering something different from the menu. My youngest cousin had a yellow chicken curry, which we all loved. I highly recommend this Portland jewel!
Awesome Vietnamese restaurant. It’s authentic and entertaining as the owners were yelling back and forth to each other in Vietnamese. It was kinda chilly inside so we had to keep our jackets on but the delicious pho distracted us. I had the veggie pho and it was satisfying and yummy. We also split a tofu banh mi and it’s one of the better ones I’ve tried in Portland. I definitely will go back here.
I decided to try this place out because of its 5-star rating and it did not disappoint. The pho itself is pretty standard, no crazy ingredients or unique twists, but the flavor and quality are superb. The broth has a great flavor without being overly salty and all the ingredients look and taste very fresh. The portion size is generous without being too huge to finish. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
My daughter loves their bhan me sandwiches so much, that she had to have one before going back to college. Update! Still fabulous! The owner is so friendly!
Plenty of seating inside. They have outdoor dining on sidewalk in front and out behind the restaurant too. Friendly staff. Crispy spring rolls and chicken potstickers were both crispy and good amount of filling. Chicken vermicelli had plenty of noodles, chicken, and veggies.
I hate giving a bad review to a place I’ve previously loved. Usually everything they serve is really good. Tonight, I ordered delivery. The salad rolls consisted of rice paper around 2 huge barely cooked 3 inch slices of tofu, and maybe and this is generous a teaspoon of chopped veg. The peanut sauce was almost water. The soups came with 1 slice of jalapeño and a very scant handful of thinly sliced onion and a wedge of lime, and maybe 3 bean sprouts. No basil, and barely any of the other veg. I’m really really disappointed.
We just found this place and we are absolutely blown away! We came for the pho and ended up ordering half the menu! The pho broth was perfectly done, the meat was tender and tasty, and the noodles were excellent. Honorable mention to the quail, egg rolls, kimchi and of course the pork banh mi! We found our new pho spot and couldn't be more pleased <3
The banh mi at Mekha Grill is good enough that it took me a long time, and many visits, to get around to trying anything else. But I'm glad I eventually got around to it. Everything here is well prepared, and though the prices originally seemed a bit high, the comparatively large portion sizes make Mekha a solid value. Like everything else I've tried here, the vermicelli with spring rolls came with crisp, fresh veggies. After multiple visits, I finally visited the wonderful patio out back, with lots of options for sitting in the sun, or in the shade. Mekha is a terrific addition to the neighborhood.
wow, i wish i had ordered TWO banh mi sandwiches! i got the tofu version and it was great. too many banh mi places make their sandwiches too dry. but this had moist, flavorable tofu and plenty of sauce.
Delicious pho. The first time I've ever eaten a whole bowl without adding any hoison/sriracha.Food: 5/5
