Finally came to check out this local restaurant for dinner. They close relatively early 8pm the latest but varies based on day and I normally eat late. The menu is relatively simple, but there's a good variety. We ended up getting the camarones a la diabla spicy shrimp, chicken enchiladas, and an agua fresca Jamaica. Food came out pretty quickly and we were given some chips and salsa to munch on while we waited. We enjoyed the food. Thr spicy shrimp had heat, but I could tolerate it with the agua fresca to cool me down. I also got to sample the chicken enchiladas and I enjoyed that as well. The agua fresca came in a giant mason jar. We were glad we were sharing given the size because we are limiting our sugar intake. It was good and not obnoxiously sweet, but you notice the sugar when you normally drink flavored seltzer. Overall, we had a good experience and enjoyed the food. It is just a slightly pricier option than our normal go to places. Of course, this is a small business and all prices are going up nowadays. Plus, we haven't been going out as much for a while, so my scale may be out of date. We also got plates and one was a seafood dish. They offered some less expensive options as well. So, I'll definitely come back to check out some of those other options.
Though unassuming from the front, this place honestly surprised me. The al pastor and carne asada were well marinated and were crisp yet juicy. The super tacos are a bit messy and a little heavy with the inclusion of rice AND beans but for the amount you get, I can't complain. Opt for the regular tacos if you really want to appreciate the taste of the meat
So glad they are open again. The market is gone, but the taqueria is open. Nice remodel and same great food. Best burritos in the Bay Area. First timers should try the carnitas.
I love this place Best Mexican food in the Bay area. Ble dat!
The staff was great, very friendly. The food was so-so. I was expecting a lot more out of a restaurant with a long history and an eager staff. I think of a taco as having a great balance of bold flavors--in particular, spicy, sweet, sour--and these tacos were middle of the road.
Wow! A phenomenal experience! Sometimes it's worth investigating. We navigated to one Mexican restaurant and by the looks we decided to go to another. When we arrived we saw this one right next door. We surveyed them both on Google. BY FAR, we made the right decision! Wonderful chips and 3 levels of salsa! HOT and HOTTEST for myself while everyone else chose the regular flavor which by the way was AMAZING. EVERYONE at our table was remarking on how great their food was and one even said "This experience gave me a new appreciation for Mexican food". WELL DONE Mercado La Torre. The service was phenomenal as the owner I perceived gave us unsolicited samples of their specialty Mexican drinks hibiscus flower and horchata. Everything was authentic and flavorful. Wonderful experience.
Amazing breakfast burrito! Best I've had in a long time! It's not on their online menu, but it came with rice, beans, eggs, cheese, potato, and bacon. Highly recommend. I'll definitely be back for more.
Eat here atleast twice a month to go, always order a super burrito Al pastor. 12 bucks for great taste and way more than enough foods for both lunch and a light dinner. A bit on the greasy side. The place is nice but nothing to write home about.
I seldom rate any businesses, but this one is LONG overdue... I have been going to this restaurant for decades. They have never disappointed me with their delicious food and friendly customer service. The burritos are GREAT. The chile Verdi is super tasty. The meats are always tender and juicy. The Super Quesadillas are a pretty descent size and lots of meat. This place used to have a small market where they sold rice, oils, etc. they don't have their market area any more after the "remodels." One of the things I really like about this place is that I don't feel sleepy after eating their food. Other local restaurants , not just mexican food, tend to have the "Me Sleepy Gone" feeling. La Torre Mercado also has about twelve tables to seat families or business events. It is interesting how I keep running into Old acquaintances at this restaurant, I guess all roads do lead to a great restaurant. Manny A.
Got the Pozole here. It’s served with lemon, cabbage, onions, lemons, hot sauce, and crispy tortillas. The soup base was delicious and full of flavor. There were large chunks of beef, strips of chicken, and hominy. It’s a generous serving perfect for warming up on a cold day. $13.99 So far this has been the best Pozole in the South Bay that I’ve found. Would recommend this place to others.
