To be completely honest the venue was nice a little smaller than I assumed though. I would like to note price typically doesn’t matter when the quality of food has met expectations but this was not the case. The food and the so call “valentine deal” is what threw me off completely. A bill for just a single person came out to be $114! They only provided two price options for the night which were: $69 or $79 it included a appetizer, a side salad or soup, main meal and dessert which sounds like a deal but they had a limited menu I couldn’t eat any of the 3 appetizers they offered, the salad was okay and for the main meal the chicken was dry and the brownie was disgusting then a drink was $15 plus their was a automatic 20% gratuity. I only was able to enjoy the zucchini, potatoes and salad. I’m really disappointed because everyone warned me not to come here but I wanted to give this place a try for myself.
I must say this was the WORST dine-in experience I have ever had! The food is very OVERLY PRICED and taste very MEDIOCRE! My girlfriend and I first ordered the shrimp skewers as an appetizer that was over cooked. I paid $15 for this very small appetizer. Each skewer had only 4 shrimp on it along with a piece of onion and bell pepper. For the main course, we ordered the Chicken Piccata with a side of Lobster Mac and Cheese. That was by far the SMALLEST piece of chicken I have ever seen on a dish! The Mac & Cheese was in a very small bowl. I didn't have any lobster in my Mac & Cheese. This looked like an appetizer and nothing like a main dish. This was RIDICULOUS!! The glasses that were on our table were very small!! The waitress had to continue coming by to refill the glasses with water since they were filled with ice. Also, after I received my bill, I noticed I was charged an additional $3 for using my debit card to pay for our order which I thought was a bit absurd!! To be honest, this meal that we ordered could've been made for less than $20! If you want to pay these prices to get your money's worth, I would advice you to stick to other places such as Cheesecake Factory. WORD OF ADVICE, PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME GOING TO THIS PLACE!! Parking: We had to walk over a quarter of a mile just to get to the restaurant! Parking is TERRIBLE!
Someone suggested to dine at Michael’s for brunch, and we wanted to support local black owned restaurants. Our server was professional and attentive. The fried green tomatoes were very good and tasty. Ordered the tiger fish with cheese grits, the fish was tasty and perfectly cooked, loved the sauce. I gave only 3 stars because the cheese grits were bland and no lights?! I understand the ambiance and preference for natural lighting, but if you’re not sitting by the windows, it’s darker than you might think, especially with the black/grey color scheme of the dining area. For the price point of the meals, there should be better lighting.
I had an amazing waitress. The place was very clean and well decorated. My appetizer was delicious. I had the spinach dip with lobster. However, I was very disappointed with my with entrée. I ordered the shrimp and grits without the sausage because I don't eat pork. My shrimp was over cooked and my grits were hard. I was given a pile of dry grits that were undercooked in the middle. I think this place could be very nice. I feel the prices didn't reflect the quality of the food.
I went there for brunch on a Sunday. Brunch menu very limited. I tried the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer and shrimp and grits Michael’s style. They were good. My friend tried the trigger fish and cheese grits….very small portions but the fish was good. It took awhile to be served. Drinks were good! I think I’ll have to come back during dinner to try other food options
I enjoyed my first visit, the staff was friendly & welcoming! I started at the bar downstairs at Michael's for the bread pudding that was simply EXCELLENT, then I proceeded upstairs to Bar Sebastian for the view, and the delicious margarita with rose petals which was wonderful. I also purchased the gourmet burger & fries upstairs, as the menus are different. My only constructive criticism is that when I arrived for my early reservation about 6 pm, upstairs was playing rap / hip hop for an hour until the DJ started. To each his own, but as much as I'm paying for everything, rap is not my genre of choice. Maybe rap lovers are the clientele they're marketing to upstairs? But otherwise everything was excellent and I'll definitely return.
Had a great time! Nice rooftop atmosphere. Food service was not so good. Never received my Flatbread and had to find the hostess to remove it from the ticket.
This place has a nice atmosphere in a gallery setting. It’s low lit and chill. Even when busy the staff came out to apologize for the time. They are accommodating during covid. I came here for an occasion and waited until all the party arrived to be seated. The lamb chops and salad were superb. Could be a larger portion of size items. During restaurant week there was a 3 course meal which had apple pie. Everyone was satisfied with their food and drinks. They have a lot of options and a great location. The restaurant entrance is at the bottom floor and across from railroad park. The bar upstairs is a speakeasy so you’ll need a password! It is a separate system and called Bar Sebastian. They serve brunch and have weekly events on the roof top. It seems really fun and would be a nice coincidence if a baseball game was going on, you can see right out! Will be back for steak. Lovely owner.
The venue and waitress was nice, the mimosa was excellent. But my food was cold, eggs scramble with cheese was ordered, however no cheese was added to the eggs, only two pancakes was given when the menu stated three. A twenty dollar gratuity for three people was added to a bill of $81.18 pluse $4.00 for credit card use. Why?
Michael’s is definitely going on my list of places not to go back to. The quality of the food was not what the pictures portray on the website. I had the salmon and mashed potatoes and it was way below average especially for $42. We had a group of about 15 or so and they put 25% gratuity on everyone’s tab and charged about $7 for paying with a credit card None cash transaction fee I will not be going back and do not recommend this place. Spend your money somewhere else!!
