Midtown Brewing Co.

Midtown puts a delicious new twist on traditional restaurant food. I had a juicy burger with fried goat cheese and a walnut/cherry reduction. Oh ya, they have many wonderful beers. On Mondays Midtown hosts an open mic night. We heard some very good local performers.

Good beer selection, and some nicely different flavors. Great service and location! Lack of visually interesting decor or ambiance, esp. compared to competitor Lansing Brewing Co. Can't comment on the food, except that the garlic fries were awesome and they don't have onion rings. Worth visiting multiple times to sample all they have - I'm really glad downtown has a fun nightlife option like this.

My husband and I are new in town and wanted to checkout the local beer. We walked in on Friday night. There was a quarter of the dining room filled and maybe 5 seats taken at the bar. We waited ten minutes without even being greeted. Maybe it was an off night. I will give it another go, but I am not wowed.

Not a very wide selection of food, but they have good ice cream. I got a flight of their beers to try out their selection. I recommend doing the same on your first visit there and then going with your favorite afterwards. I liked their stout, and the golden ale.

I ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich; the menu clearly lists arugula & blue cheese as toppings....not blue cheese dressing & mixed greens that I received on the sandwich. The greens I don't care so much about, but the combination of Buffalo sauce and blue cheese dressing on the same side of the bun makes the sandwich fall apart and inedible. I'd have said something, but the server never came back to ask how things were. To be fair, I was part of a large party & I understand how unorganized things can be, but my half-eaten plate sat in front of me, while plates were taken around me, and still no concerns risen from the server. However, I ended up raising my concerns to the manager, who was more than apologetic, and recognized the miscommunication between the front & back of the house, and happily took my half-eaten meal off my bill. I then happily paid for my beer and double-tipped the server. The food was not ideal, but the management was more than accommodating, which is what makes a restaurant a great place!
