Coming from a Nurse: I had a dental urgency and a need for a complex dental extraction. My dentist referred me to Dr. Godat. I was interviewed by him and scheduled for Thursday as well as charged a large amount for the service upfront. Then I was told that the doctor is not available on the scheduled day this was urgent and the only reason I chose to see someone who is not an oral surgeon was his availability. This caused a lot of stress and anxiety since waiting was not an option for me I was going through acute Lyme disease treatment and was not able to tolerate any oral antibiotic treatment at the moment so quick extraction was a must. Finally, as a huge favor I was told that the doctor will do it. Surgery day: the extraction started, the tooth fractured, the dentist did not inform me of this complication till after the extraction site was sutured with the graft inserted already. The anesthesia only worked about at 30%. Instead of reimaging the area and referring to a surgeon immediately the dentist inserted the graft and pushed it into place where the remaining tip of the broken root was pushing the broken tip into my Left sinus with un upward pressure. I paid for him to also inject ozone at the site to help combat the infection. When doing so, he began quickly injecting the ozone into the surgical site and I started to feel significant tension, I reported it to the dentist, he threw away the syringes on the bedside table he appeared very irritated and simply stopped the injection instead of waiting and restarting. I was sitting on the exam table in excruciating pain trying to make sense of what happened after I was told that I still have part of my infected tooth in the tooth socket together with the graft. I asked Dr. Godat where is the broken root; he replied that it could be anywhere. I asked him why he did not reimage me to identify the exact location of the root and try to extract it. He said it was getting late in the day and he was late for a meeting. I was in disbelief; I always put my patients’ interests before mine; this was one time when I needed help and this person decided to jeopardize my already shaken health based on his meeting schedule. As he was running off to his meeting I heard his advice about my sinus being ‘junky’ anyways so it would be good for me to see ENT and get it suctioned. I have seen several ENT providers and all of them said that they don’t know who told me that it may be possible but it is not possible to remove the broken tip without significantly damaging my sinus; it is simply too far. The only way to get to it after it has been closed by Dr. Godat was to break my jaw bone and cut it out via surgery. The doctors said that the best thing to do is to live with this and try to deal with chronic pain and inflammation caused by this retained infected broken root inflicted by this injury. Staff: As of note, when being discharged, the assistant took my blood pressure, which read 82 for systolic, she did not know to recheck. Staff failed to supply me with apron and thyroid collar when doing X-rays prior the surgery: undertrained. Having this experience added one more struggle I have to deal with for the rest of my life. The office manager never reached out to apologize or to return my thousands of dollars that I paid for this injury. Coming from a nurse who has cared for people and saved many lives for the past 33 years, this dental experience was by far the worst experience in my entire life. Please note, that it is not the complication fractured root itself, it is how it was handled that is a big issue. While everyone can make a mistake, not everyone will do the right thing. The right thing to do in this case would have been to re Xray, and refer to surgeon and not to insert the graft till the extraction was completed. Now the broken root is in my Left sinus causing me issues that I have to deal with forever. Choose the doctor who will do the right thing for you.
Dr. Michael Godat is an outstanding periodontist with excellent qualifications and experience. I have been his patient for several years, and I give him the very highest recommendation. As well as having excellent professional skills, he offers such kindness, sensitivity, and encouragement when he performs each periodontal procedure. I have had excellent outcomes from all the services he has provided for me including tissue grafts and dental implants. I can always count on Dr. Godat and his Staff to give the very best professional care! In these stressful times during the pandemic, I especially appreciate all the extra steps that have been taken to offer the safest environment possible at Periodontal Associates. I express my sincere appreciate for the services that have been given.
This is a very nice office and the doctor is wonderful. I've had three implants that's a lot of mouth work, trust me. Dr. Godat and the team made this as painless as possible. His team worked diligently on getting the insurance, payments, pretreatment care, post treatment care and the actual surgery with the efficiency of NASA. I have to admit I'm much impressed that Dr. Godat took the time to call me after my surgery to check up on my progress. Now that's service. Highly recommend! Five stars!
I can not say how happy I am with Dr godt. I had come from having a tooth pulled that was a very traumatic experience.Pretty much you name it, it went wrong, lost of pain and other things.I had always had awesome dental experience till then. Dr Godt did restore my experience with having dental treatment. There staff is as THE BEST but when you have great dr leading a team that makes the whole place enjoyable.I am so thankful for them. Also considering we are in a pandemic .I have never seen such a great action plane in place to make sure everyone is safe and the air filters they use in each room. I just feel so safe and taken care of. Thank you all so much to all of you that work so hard there!
If you need a periodontist, this office is great! COVID-1 precautions are implemented throughout the office. The staff is awesome, welcoming, comforting, and knowledgeable. From my consultation to procedure day, I was well informed of the process and recovery. Thanks Dr. Godat, Anna, and staff. Not a bad experience at all.
I was told to go see Dr. Godat here at this location to see if they could help me with an implant that my previous dentist off dropped the ball on. Everyone I came in contact with was so amazingly nice and you could tell generally cared about making you comfortable. The staff even discovered a problem that I have had for years and never was informed of by any other specialist or dentist and I was pretty bad. I needed an orthodontist for this issue and the staff at PAOM found one near me and made my appointment for me asap. Also they have great payment plans as well but without that they was still so much cheaper than my previous estimate was. Yes you might have to wait alittle but it was so worth the wait. Only bad thing about my visit was my teeth. lol
I understand Covid has changed the face of dentistry as we know it. They may do wonderful work but I'll never know. I highly recommend you pay attention to your bill coding. I find it suspect, slippery, shady and unethical to bill someone for a secondary consult when there was NEVER a "primary" one to begin with. Hard to trust someone in your mouth when you see price gouge in pandemic.
All was excellent. Appointment time was perfect. The visit was totally successful. Periodontal Associates have been serving me for a very long time. The staff and doctors are tops in there field. They took the time to explain procedures so I would understand what was going on. Five Stars!!
