Our waiter was very entertaining and had us laughing. Food was good only complaint would be that we ordered the steak medium well and it was very pink. Gratuity is added to the check so make sure you don’t tip again unless you want to.Food: 3/5
Love the food here! We made reservations in advance and I’m glad we did . It’s a tight space , sadly I couldn’t be seated upstairs. But our waitress was amazing as were the Margarita and Seafood rice.
Terrible service. I asked the waiter for white rice and black beans which I order every time I come here and she tried to tell me it’s not possible bc the gallo pinto meal is already made with black beans and white rice mixed together. I’ve ordered this same meal plenty of times and this has never been a problem. Mind you usually they bring a basket of bread which never came out. look at the difference of what they gave me vs what I usually get minus the fried plantains bc the person I was with gave me theirs. The waiter was very rude and they charged 10 $ extra for the steak to be made well done which i never was charged this amt before. 90$ for this!
Went here for dinner. Most of the food was decently prepared, but the quality was variable. The paella was severely lacking salt, and many of the other dishes were also bland. The pork rinds, however, were quite tasty. The service was pretty slow and inattentive despite us telling them that we were in a pinch. Overall, I’d go somewhere else in the area.
Food and atmosphere was great. HPpy hour prices are good for downtown Philly. Jose Luis from Santo Domingo and Jorge de Cuba provided good service and helped with the selection on the plates. He just didn't tell us it was huge platters. It's big I had enough for the next day and I'm 6ft5 big and tall and a heavyweight. They looked out. They are good bartenders and were attentive.
Food was very good. Garlic shrimp was amazing. $30 sampler appetizer was not worth the price. Some of the items were excellent and some were dry and bland. Beware of the upcharges. They add charges to each drink so whatever it shows on the menu is not what you wind up paying. Drink menu shows a margarita for $14, then the waitress asks what kind of tequila you want, but doesn't tell you it's adding $8 on to the price. So you wind up paying $22 for a SMALL, WEAK drink. Whether you're one person or four people, they add gratuity so as other reviews show, the service lacks when there's no incentive. Our girl went MIA for a while in the end, and the food was late coming out in the beginning so we were there for a while. But then we were kindly asked to give up the table for another reservation. We were only a party of 4 and were there for 2 hours, with no dessert, and it cost over $300.
Mixto is a must visit in Philly! Latin cuisine, great portions, great flavor and excellent presentation! Service is very attentive. The atmosphere is lively! Drinks are fantastic!Food: 5/5
Shout out to our bartender Joselito. He was so accommodating and attentive to our every need. I recommend getting a margarita pitcher or two. Food was excellent! I had the Ropa Vieja and my only comment is that I wish I had more to take home haha. Will definitely be back again.Food: 5/5
Lovely place. Staff was great, even though we didn't have a reservation. Service was great and the food was just perfect.Food: 5/5
I’ve been a customer of Mixto for over 5 years. While the food is delicious, the service is not anymore. Most of the staff is so unfriendly, they walk around almost glaring at customers. The service used to be good now everyone there looks miserable. The only reason I kept coming back was because of the food but the service has definitely gone down hill. Very unfortunate because this place has so much potential. It may be the guaranteed 18% gratuity that has contributed to this careless way of service, no matter how they treat you they’re still getting paid so being friendly or at least not walking around with a stank face and attitude has become optional for the servers. Hosts and runners are mostly the only friendly ones very unfortunate.
