MJ's Pizza, Bar & Grill

We used to go there a couple of times a month but didn't like the service. We would drop about $100 plus $20 tip at the bar and never felt that we were adequately served or acknowledged. No smiles, no humor. If a regular came in the bartender would basically ignore us. After not going back for about a year I met up with a friend last night. One bartender was good, the other would literally look at my empty glass and keep going. She even gave us a dirty look because she thought we were talking to a guy who she thought was someone's boyfriend. Needless to say I'm married and my friend has a boyfriend. He defended her but it made us uncomfortable. I won't be back again for a while. The food is always great. Love their pizza and appetizers. That's the only reason I gave them 4 stars. I wish Middletown had a pub with friendly bartenders. You're missing an opportunity MJ's.

Going downhill fast. Went there with a big group and all they wanted to watch was mixed martial arts on TV. There were 10 of us and we wanted to listen to music, have drinks and fun. They refused to turn on the jukebox. The ambience sucked. We went to Red Bank, much better.

went there for the first time. We had 2 bacon cheeseburgers and water---with tip cost us $30. The burgers were just OK---for $11.99 you get the burger on a bun with bacon and cheese--no lettuce, tomato, onion. was suppose to come with a side of chipotle mayo--that never happened. You also get fries and a pickle. My bun was toasted (but my boyfriend's wasn't) and it was toasted so much it was hard as a rock and I had to ask for another bun. Server was robotic and ambiance is blah. Doubt we would go back.

The Mj.s in Neptune had a very good selection of beer this one does not. No NJ craft beers either just macros. Even the Sam Adams seems flat. Mentioned it to bartender and he handled it entirely the wrong way. The lighting at the bar is kinda bright. Really bright? Not recommend for craft beer drinkers or dates!

A small local joint. When it fills up on a Friday/Saturday nights you might feel claustrophobic. The times I have eaten, the food was average. But that was a while ago. I would not drive more than a few 5 - 10 mins to go there.
