I honestly did not expect to see such a beautiful treasure chest hidden in the heart of the Italian market. A friend of mine who knows my obsession with used and rare books suggested this place, but since it had the word "records" in the title, I was reluctant to visit at first. I love records but I don't have the device to play them. Anyways one weekend me and my husband decided to go and it was a beautiful experience. First of all even though the place was old and small, it gave a gorgeous vintage vibe. You know, a cute kitty sleeping near the books on display, guys discussing Emile Zola loudly, the smell of fresh coffee. I immediately noticed what a wonderful place it is, because they had beautiful and vintage and most importantly affordable editions of my favorite books. I loved loved loved their selection and the entire experience. I even found a Sylvia Plath from the 60s that despite being old, was clearly an unread copy. Not just that, there was a folded piece of newspaper article about Plath from the 70s in there. Such a treasure for a Plath lover like me! I also got some Zola and May Sarton. We then took our books and walked to a nearby park, where we drank our italian coffee and read our books. A wonderful bookstore and also a great experience.
Molly's is a cute bookstore in the Italian market with a pretty good selection of books and records. And of course it has the cutest bookstore cat!
Great little spot for books or records. Found lots of great things here in both categories! Great prices, bonus points for cat.
The staff is very friendly especially Miss Molly and the their selection of books and records are always excellent!
Great books of all kinds, vinyl records, vhs tapes and more! Very kind owner! Huge space
Cookbooks and records--two of my favorite things This has long been a destination for me for record shopping--the prices are reasonable and I've come away with several special records over the years. As of a few years ago, the back room has been converted to a space focused on cookbooks, out-of-print and antiquarian. They have early editions of classic food books like Joy of Cooking, for example, but they also have a considerable selection of global cookbooks which is my favorite wall. They also have a nice selection of cooking pamphlets from early to mid 1900s. From someone who takes much pleasure in hoarding a collection of cookbooks and vinyl records h/t Marie Kondo, Molly's is a place that sparks joy.
The book collection is wonderful and Molly was most helpful and friendly. I picked up a beautiful, hard-back, edition of a book of poems there and will definitely return to purchase more books. They have a great collection.
Some weird reviews on here. The selection here is exceptional. It’s not the random assortment of books you get at a lot of used bookstores, but a curated selection that’s informed by some very good taste and a preference for american short fiction, as far as I can tell. Great atmosphere and prices you’d expect from any used bookstore $5-8 per paperback, penciled inside the front cover. Some great editions of classics.
Great spot in the market for nostalgia. They even have some more modern used vinyl on occasion. Their book selection is fantastic. Great to see family owned business still able to thrive in this world of technology and convenience. Also entertaining to watch parents show a their children a record player for the first time.
My girlfriend and I went here and it started raining pretty hard. Knowing that we were regulars and always walk, Molly gave us an umbrella for the extreme downpour. I'm in love with this place and the owners. I set aside a small portion of every pay check to be able to go here. They have the absolute best selection of used vinyl and books and I find exactly what I'm looking for every time I go for a fraction of the price of competing stores. I cannot say enough good things about this place.
