About

MSD offers an exciting and well-rounded educational program that challenges curiosity and rewards creativity. Our unique curriculum is based on a combination of Montessori philosophy and best educational practices.

Mission

We are a dynamic educational environment
empowering students
to use diverse knowledge and experiences
to reach their full potential
and do good in the world.

"We teach toddlers through eighth-grade students a curriculum that has expanded beyond our Montessori foundation. MSD parents know first-hand how our educational approach supports and nurtures a child’s development in all areas: physical, intellectual, language, and social-emotional. Our students learn more than facts and figures – they learn how to learn. What happens within the walls of our classroom or the confines of our campus is just the spark that ignites an entire lifetime of reaching one’s full potential."

We are in our tenth year at MSD and could not be happier! Our children started in the toddler program and are now in 4th and 7th grade. At school they have grown into kind, inquisitive, and confident learners. They are excited to go to school every-single-day! The MSD curriculum pushes our children to think outside the box, to be leaders, not followers. MSD has shined not only in the classroom, but especially during remote learning in the Spring of 2020. Teachers reached out to our children individually every week to check in and ensure they they were on track with their learning. MSD walks it's talk - it is a dynamic environment, raising children to think globally and to do good in the world. I am grateful every day that our children are at MSD.
Montessori School of Denver is a community for our family. Our son has thrived there and continues to love learning. His teachers communicate often and available when questions arise. The school leadership is thoughtful, inclusive, and equitable. We are very happy at MSD and looking forward to seeing it grow!
My daughter has been at MSD since she was a toddler now in elementary. Every step of the way she's had phenomenal teachers who have nurtured her and helped her grow. The Montessori approach is definitely what we need more of in education right now! She's learning academics, but also how to be a part of a community, manage her time, follow her interests, handle conflict etc. It will prepare her for adulthood in meaningful and tangible ways.
When we were looking for schools for our toddler, we knew we wanted a Montessori education for him. After touring different Montessori schools in the area, we realized none offered the learning, experiences, and community found at MSD. The first thing that stood out to us was MSD’s mission statement. We knew our son would be lucky to grow and learn in an environment where those values were lived out every day. We were impressed by the beautiful campus, classrooms filled with hands-on-learning, but especially the relationships we observed between students and faculty. We began our school search right before the pandemic began and are continually grateful for the precautions, policies, and transparent communication from the school administration. Our child is safe, loved, academically/socially/emotionally thriving, and we could not be happier with our decision! We are honored to partner with MSD and look forward to what the next 11 years will bring!
After moving my family from the San Francisco Bay Area to Denver, I am extremely grateful to have found MSD. All three of my children currently attend the school Primary, Elementary, and Middle School and each are thriving in their own way. The kids' collective opinion is that MSD is a very special place - a school like no other. I agree! With past experience in both private and public schools, what stands out to me about MSD is the love and dedication teachers give to each student and family. Rooted in the philosophy of Montessori, my kids are being prepared to navigate the future world. They have daily opportunities to build their independence, confidence, creativity, and collaboration skills. Most importantly, they are safe, happy, and love going to school each day. We love MSD and highly recommend it!
Montessori School of Denver's Middle School is an amazing place, and we feel so lucky to have landed here. My daughter attended a different school for elementary and her transition to MSD has been smooth, even during Covid. The school has made health and safety a top priority and they have been in-person for nearly the whole school year. The student to teacher ratio is great, which I think is really something other middle schools lack. Middle School can be a tough time in a child's life and MSD goes out of its way to put together a plan that works for each student and the type of learner they are. The school has made Equity and Inclusion a top priority and it really shows in the curriculum my child is studying and the activities they prioritize. Highly recommend!
We have been so pleased with our experience at MSD. It is both a school and real community where as a family we feel that we belong. The toddler curriculum is incredible and the staff is caring, attentive, and talented. The campus is beautiful and the classrooms are built with attention to every detail. We would recommend it for anyone curious about the Montessori method, who hopes to send their child to a place that is built for their children to thrive.
My three year old grandson is in his second year at MSD. I am continually impressed with the excellent quality of education he is receiving. The caring teachers and staff and a curriculum which is teaching him independence and responsibility surpasses my expectations. I really like the way his teacher communicates on an almost daily basis with his parents sending pictures of their child engaging in a variety of skills such as building blocks, sorting objects, practicing fine motor skills, and/or interacting with peers. Often the picture is accompanied with an explanation of why that activity is important and how it will help him in the future. I have witnessed some of the training provided for parents such as tips for toilet training for the two year olds. Although things may be different this year, I believe that MSD provides an excellent environment for learning and that is unchangeable.
My husband and I found MSD The Montessori School of Denver by Googling "Montessori Preschools in Denver." The photos and philosophy immediately resonated with us and only days later, we ran into friends who had two children enrolled at MSD. We where anxious to take a tour! Which I highly recommend you do! Tours are available to all interested families! The Director of Admissions, Tara Gehrke is so warm and informative. She presents the school as if your child is already a member of the community. We felt instantly connected to the MSD campus, faculty and community! I highly recommend reaching out to Tara via phone or email for more information, she is very responsive! We are now proud MSD parents! Our 3-year-old son, Marcus, is a member of the Toddler 2 community. The toddler program boasts three classrooms, each with one lead teacher and two teacher's assistants. The student-teacher ratio is impressive and the attention to detail paid to each child and family is beyond impressive. We are proud to call Mrs. Lara our son's teacher! Together with the teachers, faculty and parent community, we are finding new and effective ways to grow and learn as a family rooted in Montessori principles. We are great believers in early childhood education and specifically in Montessori philosophy. MSD upholds the true vision of Maria Montessori and our son benefits from those philosophies each day. I would be happy to reply to any comments or questions on this review!
This is such a fantastic school and community for both children and parents! My daughter just finished her first year Toddler and I cannot speak highly enough of the teachers, assistants, main office, campus and all the events to ensure the entire family is involved and aware of all that your child is experiencing and learning. My daughter has thrived In becoming her own person and an independent toddler. Within 2.5 weeks of being in school she was working on putting her socks on as a 2.5 year old and she accomplished it not long after that, she always asked to help around the house with chores, her speech and awareness of others increased considerably. She learned how to respect her environment and peers a lot more and her teacher gave me feedback and tools as to how to better nurture a very high strong toddler. The campus is beautiful and the school is constantly improving it. I can’t speak highly enough of the entire school and staff! I can’t wait for her to start Preschool this year!
