Among my favorite Thai restaurants in Houston. All the classic dishes in a no frills space. The food is all very flavorful - I particularly loved the basil chicken and pad see ew. Also of note, the restaurant is BYOB! Overall, I definitely recommend this spot and hope to come back soon!
I went there several times. I like their food and also the fact that it is so calm and quiet inside. It surely has a home like vibe. The problem is their customer service has deteriorated a lot. The first time I went there the girl who was taking care of us was so nice. I was really amazed. After that there is always a guy and I had bad experience with him twice. The last time I went there was probably last week. The guy was behaving weird. As soon as we finished eating he was there to take the payment I was just drinking water after finishing my last bite. His attitude was like as if we were running away without paying the money.
Came here for the first time to try their lunch special. Their red curry was sweet for a medium spice level. Vegetable soup was good and warming. It wasn’t the best Thai food in Houston so I won’t be coming back.
My favorite Thai restaurant! The food is fresh and full over rich, deep flavors. I've tried 10-15 items on the menu and every one of them was fantastic. The dumplings are right up there with the best I've ever had. The place is cozy but the service is excellent and the food always comes out in a timely manner. HIGHLY recommend.
Clean beautiful place. Food was delicious, but i think their tom yum was missing flavor and salt. Everything else was awesome.
The atmosphere was calm, the cuisine mouth watering, the company tolerable. I enjoyed every mouthful of this Thai experience and would rush to go back and select some more dishes off their menu. One suggestion would be to serve the lunch selections on slightly larger plates. I wanted to eat more of this delicious offering but my tiny plate kept me limited. Which was good for my figure as it did not let me eat too much of the chef's delightful offerings. Thank you Morningside Thai you managed to delight my morning.
Thankful to be staying at a hotel that is within walking distance of the Morningside Thai restaurant because I plan on making multiple trips. So many great sounding menu items that still need to be sampled. Tonight I had the Crab Fried Rice and chicken satay. Crab fried rice had loads of REAL crab meat in it. Made me very happy. Chicken satay flavor was on point. Extra points for the cool plate it was served on. Looking forward to my next round here…
Very nice simple restaurant. I ordered the ginger fish. Which is red snapper. In a mixture of onions bell pepper green beans in a ginger sauce. The snapper was fried. And seem to be cut in these 6 small nugget pieces. With the sauce and veggies on top. I didn't like this much. You lose the crispiness from the fried fish. And you are soon eating mushy fried fish. You have to eat it really fast like a bowl of cereal before the milk makes it all soggy. They should consider separating the fish. Also they should consider bigger pieces of fish or just one solid piece. I felt kinda cheated by the fact I only got these one inch pieces of fish ends. I also ordered some chicken wings. It came plain with a side of sweet Thai chili sauce. It was good. Those were cooked very well. I waited about 20 minutes. They didn't have many people in the restaurant in fact it was mostly empty with one table eating. But they had plenty of take out orders.
normally ii eat at Thai Cottage delicious. this place was a new try. very disappointed. Garlic Chicken was EXTREMELY DRY and had no flavor whatsoever, not even a hint of garlic, salt or black pepper. ii also ordered Pineapple Fried Rice with chicken & shrimp .... and it was supposed to be Thai hot but it was not. the rice was super bland. basically unseasoned...and ii literally found 3 shrimp tails of every piece of shrimp..ii felt cheated. ii did not recommend trying this place. ii personally will never willingly return.
So if you order food to go from here using Uber Eats, make sure you wash your hands because they wont send utensils. No fork, no spoon or even napkins. I called to complain and rep said that on uber orders they don’t include them. I guess i have to magically let them know that i am not a caveman and I will need utinsils.
