You're paying for what you get in this area. Though the staff was very kind and helpful anytime we needed anything, the rooms themselves looked like they hadn't been deep cleaned, maybe basic cleaning, but I'm talking walls, door frames and ceilings, in a while. The room my husband and I had in the bathroom there was a red, nail polish looking, looking stain from the wall to all over the door frame. The bathroom door also was punched in, the ceiling in the bathroom seems to have some dark corners and one mattress in our room seemed way out-dated in comparison to the other. Just seems like some paint and updates to these rooms would really be beneficial. The area itself is a good location my husband and I were able to find food and such on foot so we didn't have to deal with construction a couple blocks away.
Rocky, the manager at the motel was the most helpful person ever. He helped us when we were struggling with a mixed up room reservation by readily supplying us with an available room and helping us cancel the mixed up reservation. He also helped keep us informed about goings on at the hotel and regularly made sure we were comfortable and felt welcomed. He was always willing to help us answer questions and get anything we may need. We truly felt connected to him.
I will say the front staff was awesome. The rooms, building and outside needs major repairs and cleaning. I stay at motel 6's everytime I go on a trip and they are nice, but I have to say this one has been the worst. It either needs to get a major remodel or tear it down and start over. Overall I had no major issues except the rooms needing major attention. This was room 111 and TV had sound no picture which was not a major thing. Switched to 130 it was in better shape. I however tried to do some cleaning of the doors and walls inside and out just cause that's me. I would start doing the deposit thing again and use it to hopefully use it towards repairs and eliminate the bad influences there. Overall it was quiet.
Honestly the people here are absolutely amazing. You can't do much about the location, but the price fits. You'll find homeless people in any city so there's not much new there. The rooms are nice with separate ac units for your preferred temp. If you need anything while there the staff are super helpful, and can help with anything from extra towels to direction. Absolute pleasure to talk to. I'd highly recommend this place for a stay on a budget.
The motel 6 in downtown Salt Lake City is my second home. Rocky is a specimen of a human being. I would give up my dog forever just to hang out with Rocky for an hour and a half. The location is pretty mid, but it’s worth staying at just to gain the privilege of meeting Rocky once in your life. Rocky and the Motel 6 go together like peanut butter and jelly. If I ever have a son, I’m naming him, you guessed it, Rocky. My favorite ice cream, you guessed it, Rocky Road. My favorite baseball team, you guessed it, the Colorado Rockies. I look up to Rocky in so many ways, as he is truly a one of a kind human being, and is the definition of what every human person should strive to be. Much love Rocky, see you soon.
At this particular motel six I encountered a front desk receptionist. Her name is Santi I am a 100 percent disabled veteran who has anxiety and PTSD issues. I mention this because I want you to understand how difficult things are at times. This employee as well as one of the managers completely changed my views on motel sixes. Not only was this lady helpful, she gave off the sense of being invested in her job. She made a atmosphere which spoke of home to me. By simply having a warm welcoming greeting when first walking threw the door to making sure all my needs was met. It allowed me to relax and feel comfortable. I've never experienced that at any other hotel. That alone says something. I've never written a review but this place deserved one. Simply because of 1 employee who invested time to make me feel welcomed.
BEDBUGS. I know when booking a hotel like this to expect the peeling flooring, the spilled paint that for some reason was never cleaned up, the stray pube on the toilet. All of that is part of the price in my opinion. But my first room had bed bugs. I stayed there for 3 nights because I couldn’t find an actual bug. But every morning I woke up covered in bites. After some googling I realized there was nothing else it could be. I switched rooms for the last two nights and had no issues. I’m not one to write a bad review on a cheap hotel but bed bugs is where I draw the line.
The employee working at 2am when I arrived from my train was excellent. However..... they need better housekeeping. The trash wasn't emptied, the heater may be broken had it at 70 but, couldn't get warm, and the bed was sketchy. The sheet was on the outside of the blanket and heavily wrinkled. No comforter at all. Pillows were clean and neat though. Also there's a t.v. but, no access to a menu or channels. If you can charge $93 for a night in a room you'd think t.v. would be affordable. Walkability: McDonalds just across the corner. Domino's Pizza less than 2miles away. Nice mostly safe area. Friendly people.
The scuffed up and dirty floors, walls, and shower are to be expected somewhere like this. That part wasn't anything egregious, and I'd maybe give it 2 stars if the room didn't reak like cigarettes and there weren't sketchy people hanging out in the parking lot all day and night. If you're good with all that though, it's a really cheap place to stay right downtown.
Front desk agent was nice and helpful. No toilet paper in room and none at the front desk. Says they are out of T. P. Thats not ok. GM should have handled it better. Ask another location. There are several owned by the same group that could have helped out. Phone is not working in my room. Bathroom door is all busted up. Holes and cracked in 2 peices. Floor is not clean. It's filthyexposed wiring where smoke detector should be. None there. But it's a lot better than being outside in the cold. I'm grateful to have this room but it could be cleaner and safer and have toilet paper.
