What a fascinating museum!! The children and grownups truly enjoyed our visit. Highly recommend to all parents. Many misunderstandings and confusions and conflicts today were often due to not knowing or forgetting the past. History will repeat itself in a bad way if we forget the past. Let the past be our teacher.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
We thoroughly enjoyed visiting this museum. Conveniently located right across the street from where we stayed, we learned so much from our visit. A majority of the displays were on the 2nd floor. They were interactive, and were filled with lots of information which we took the time to read and learn about. We also had the chance to see an original tent that George Washington had used during the war and watch a short presentation on that. At the time we went, there were many school group tours happening. Overall, I highly recommend adding this to your places to visit while here in Philadelphia. Purchasing the Go City Pass was helpful, too.
A good overview of the American Revolution with a chronological flow of exhibits and movies. The museum also had free public Wifi, a gift shop, and cafe.
I’m so glad my friend recommended this museum. It’s a few blocks from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. We bought tickets when we arrived no wait. There is a coat room that is nice on rainy days. Right when we walked in there was a group learning how to assemble a replica of George Washington’s camp bed. The employees are all so knowledgeable and friendly. It’s great to have people that get you as interested in history as they are. The Washington’s tent exhibit is really interesting. The museum is well laid out with a good mix of short movies and exhibits. I love all the interactive things I assume targeted for kids. Great way to keep kids entertained and into history. The guy that talks about the weapons is so knowledgeable and fun. I learned quite a bit and enjoyed my visit.
This museum is full of exhibits that provide tons of historical information. Lines were not long and you can spend as long as you want walking around. Worth the time and money.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes

Amazing experience. Located right in the historic district just two blocks from Independence Hall, this museum is a must see. As a mom, I appreciated the completely interactive experience. So many items had "please touch" signs or interactive components. There was a scavenger hunt with an item in most rooms, giving us something to focus on with my 7-year old without being overwhelmed. As a history teacher with a history buff husband, I appreciated the amount of history covered. The museum basically starts at the French and Indian War and walks you chronologically through the Revolution with each area having a clearly defined focus. Enslaved, Black, Native, and women's voices on both sides are taken into account throughout. Great experience and a great compliment to the free experiences at Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell.
I don't often leave reviews for museums but it's hard not to when it's this impressive. This museum did a wonderful job of keeping you emerced, engaged, and excited to learn. Highly recommend
Get 2 dollars off by buying your tickets online. Very cool experience. The highlight is George Washington tent, which had a very cool history. They have the tent itself on the second level and you get to see it after a short video. My only suggestion, and reason for 1 star off, is that there is a very specific route you should follow to enjoy things chronologically. The are not good signs to point you in the right directions. I heard other people complaining about this as well. When the story we were enjoying became a story about a free American country that got taken over by Briton...I knew we were going the wrong way...
