Came here today to replace my debit card and get some advise on a suspected fraudulent check. Belen, the young lady behind the glass, was very helpful, patient, and communicated consistently and clearly so as to create comprehension for her clients. BELEN IS A BRIGHT STAR! Thanks for you, time!
I'm not a member of this credit union, but I am in the military and have valid ID. I walked in today to simply break a $100 and get change, and they refused me, saying "I needed to be a member". I wasn't exactly asking to cash a third-party check, I was just getting change. And I wasn't trying to exchange a $100 bill for small bills; it was just five $20 bills for a $100 bill. Whatever happened to civility in our society? So I literally needed to drive all the way to my own bank to do this simple transaction. Come on guys, would it really hurt you to do this? I have valid ID, if you needed that, or worried about fraud. I have so much about this mythical "Aloha spirit" in Hawaii, but I really don't see much of it.
Navy veteran, NFCU member, I showed up at 9am on a Saturday. All counters manned with minimal wait times. Just came to withdraw some small bills. Excellent service, super friendly staff
The car loan application itself was an easy process. However, the titling experience was horrible. I bought the car at the end of March from an NFCU member that had an NFCU lien on the vehicle. I also financed through NFCU, so I thought everything would go smoothly. The seller gave me a POA so the title could get sent to the bank and I could go pick it up and register the vehicle. They said it normally takes up to 30 days to receive the title. Over the course of the next 90+ days, I called them almost ten times and went into the actual bank and the DMV a handful of times. I'd spend over an hour on the phone with them. Each time I went into the bank they said the DMV had lost the title. Each time I went into the DMV they said it was in NFCU's court. Come to find out, NFCU had recorded the VIN number incorrectly so the DMV never received the electronic lien release. I would have never figured this out and would have continued to get the runaround for eternity. Luckily, the one bright shining star of NFCU Debbie at the Kailua branch found the error. Even after she found the error, the title department kept giving me conflicting info about how to resolve the issue and I would still spend over an hour on the phone with them. After many more calls, the title finally got mailed to me and I took it to the Radford branch for the bank to sign it off so I could register the vehicle the registration had been expired for some time, which worried my wife. After they signed off one section of the title Section E: Application for Transfer by New Registered Owner, I asked if they needed to sign off the lien-release section of the title or give me a lien-release letter to take to the DMV. Justin told me Section E was good enough. Of course, when I got to the DMV counter after waiting my turn, the DMV informed me Justin was dead-wrong. I had to go back to NFCU to get them to sign off on the section I thought needed to be signed off to begin with after waiting forever. I then had to go back to the DMV and wait my turn again. The NFCU Title department, Collateral Control department, and the Radford NFCU branch contain some incompetent people not all of them of course. The car was finally able to be registered on 5 July, over 90 days from the vehicle purchase date.
As someone who worked at Navy Federal for three years, I know NFCU traditionally values member service. However, the employees at this branch nearly cost me my future home when they refused to issue a cashier's check to my father while I was overseas. I arranged for him to pick up the check so he could deposit it as a down payment, and they turned him away without even checking my account for the notes with the instructions I left for them. Ultimately, the errors were corrected by the staff at the call center, and I can sincerely recommend them and every other Navy Fed personnel I have ever interacted with. Navy Federal usually has high standards! It's just that the folks at this particular branch do not meet those standards. If you have a transaction that really matters to you, do yourself a favor and call member service or visit any other branch to get the help you need.
Don’t deposit cash with NCU. They always short change me while they count the currency in the back room. I can’t prove anything. I’m no longer there.
I have only visited this branch once, but the lone visit went exceptionally well. It was not very busy, only four people ahead of me in line. I was only there for a replacement red card so maybe that is why I was served quickly? Branch enforcement of social distancing was reassuring. An employee at the door asked for my phone number and reason for my visit, then advised I would receive a call when it is my turn; call received within a couple minutes. Danny was friendly, professional, and fast. I was out in less than three minutes.
Super slow service. It seems like they minimal staff at very busy times, making wait times very long. Not having any way to set up appointments for things they don’t deem important also makes things stressful if you are ever in a time crunch. DO NOT come here
I rushed there before they closed in order to do a withdrawal. Called the store which automatically connected me to customer service and customer service proceeded to speaking with the store directly. We were told that as long as we got there before closing, then we could make a withdrawal. We got there right before they closed and they all but closed the door in our face. Even after explaining that customer service spoke to someone directly in the branch, they were still unwilling to help. I’ve worked for a bank several years and this is not how to treat your customers. I’m frustrated and disappointed in this location.
Awesome Navy Fed branch. Everyone has been super helpful whenever I've been in there. They can answer any questions you have and they're very efficient.
