NDOT

The Reno office is lacking in responding to the needs of the citizens. 2 1/2 years to get a fence looked at and a decision made. Not even the home office in Carson can get them to move. Unbelieveable!

As a concerned driver and pedestrian I have to say that NDOT is greatly lacking in the safety department. I have almost been hit twice in the past two weeks while on foot in North West Reno. All because NDOT thinks its a good idea to allow the green walk sign simultaneously with the left turn traffic. Im not sure what idiot ever came up with this idea however I suspect its responsible for countless deaths of pedestrians over the years. So when is enough enough. How many deaths does it take to implement change? A better question is how hard is it to wait an extra minute to separate pedestrian traffic with 4000 pound flesh and bone crushers? I mean seriously thats all it would take. I had another concern about the 395 south freeway entrance at Oddie Blvd a year or so ago and gave a recommendation that a dedicated lane be given to vehicles entering at Oddie blvd and it is great to see that NDOT has actually done what a private citizen has requested. I cant tell you how many accidents I heard about and was almost in myself at this particular location. So I give three stars for the good NDOT does, however these Nevada signals at intersections need much improvement. Motion sensors and or infrared cameras that detect a heat signiture would allow Nevada to make their stop lights alot more safe by bringing back the green arrow at all stop lights which would virtually eliminate the cross traffic interaction we see at almost all Nevada intersections. I am from California and ever since I first entered one of these dangerous intersections, I though what the hell are they thinking!!?? I mean come on people, when is it ever a good idea to direct traffic into the path of other traffic intentionally? Bad idea and it needs to change before some innocent person becomes yet another statistic.
