Being a Sri Lankan myself I can assure you, you can't expect anything more. Aunty Viji and her sis-in-law makes sure that you're being treated in the most hospitable way and you're being poured out with so much love and generosity for what you pay. I think that's what most special about this place. It's not just about the amazing food it's also everything else about that place. 2 of us from our group there were from KS, but I was wishing I could take aunty Viji to KS with me cuz she felt like home. I loooooved all the food I ate there and she even made us chai though it wasn't in the menu. She does that to the special customers I've added all the pics I took of the food and aunty Viji and her sis in law as well. රසම රසයි. ரொம்ப ருசி
Amazing experience. Treated us like family. As soon as we walked in the owner wanted to know our names and was very happy to meet us. I explained how excited I was to try different Sri Lankan foods, and she didn't even give us a menu, she just said don't worry, I'll make you a little bit of everything good. And everything was delicious. Black goat curry was out of this world. The Watalappan was amazing. And the mango Lassi was ridiculous. She actually didn't let us drink it until halfway into the meal, because she knew we would devour it and she didn't want out appetite getting ruined. Cannot wait to go back.
the food was delicious, affordable ~15 for a very filling plate and the hospitality was so warm and inviting , especially considering this is a very bare bones place with only a few tables. The owner was so kind and friendly. I got the chicken and rice lunch, a mango lassi, and tapioca pudding. All were very delicious.Food: 5/5
Viji acca was the absolute best! Best fish bun in all of North America! Love from Toronto!!!Food: 5/5
Everything here was absolutely delicious. The woman working Viji asked us what we liked, and how spicy, and made us custom plates. The chicken and lamb curries, fish rolls, creamy jackfruit and tapioca pudding were especially good, I can’t wait to go back.Food: 5/5
First time trying Sri Lankan food and the staff was helpful in providing a good experience. I had the curry fish over rice with the veggies, along w roti. I enjoyed the daal and spinach, though the fish was a little rough. I would try the curry goat/chicken next time.Food: 5/5
If you want affordable and delicious Sri Lankan food, this is your spot. I got the Chicken Biryani with goat curry and it was packed full of flavor! I loved the mouth watering spiciness that went along with the spices. This place also offers nut and dairy allergy friendly dishes as well such as their curries and rotis. I will definitely come here again. Dietary restrictions: Get the curries and Roti if you have a nut or dairy allergy but always make sure to ask.
Yum!! Authentic!! We ordered a lumprais special with mutton and coconut sambal. No frills place but amazing food and great service as they continually checked in with us to make sure we liked it / were eating it correctly.
Curries taste really complex and delicious. Vegetable Kottu Roti was also great, laced with curry leaves and green chilis. Viji the owner was super nice and helpful! Loved everything I tried. Update: went back to try more curries, string hoppers, pittu, and the passion fruit drink. Everything was insanely good. The fish curry in particular is a must-order. The food is fresh, balanced, light, and flavorful. Such a gem!
One of my favorite little restaurants in NYC. We often stop here when driving out of the city via Staten Island. Some truly unique and mouthwatering flavor profiles on offer here that I can’t get elsewhere and cannot make at home. Also, absolutely impeccable service. It’s a tiny hole in the wall, but clean. We’ve been customers since 2007 and will remain devoted!
